Wrong place to mention Jeff Buckleys other half? Joan Wasser or Joan As Policewoman if we're going for stage names here...
I maintain that Real Life is one of the loveliest albums of the past five years.its a fine album yea. i've seen her a few times, she's been doing stints playing in rufus Wainwrights bands. must be awkward when Wainwright does a rant about loving buckley then launches into his cover of hallelujah..

I've seen Mark Lanegan a lot.. plus small show > big sold out shepherds bush show
that was essentially my (partly financially motivated) decision. although i've only seen him once with band, and a whole bunch of times with others.
also the much smaller venue has better boozes, which is always a plus.

i'm still pretty gutted i wasn't able to send anything in for Tony Hart's Gallery. even now. :( i suppose i could just hang something up in my room and play this on a loop.

Go up to Ally Pally and see all of London's fireworks.
this. saturdays usually the best day to do this, but it's still a pretty good view even if its not the busiest night.
blackheath last night was pretty good, busy but easy enough to get away from. nice one lewisham council. hoping weavers field tonight will be similar.

I would avoid just ploughing up and down.
Swimsmooth.com has a load of set you could try.
An easy set to follow would be
4 x 100 warm up (4th length anything but fc)
4 x 100 drill sets of choice - catch one day, roll the next, recovery etc...
8 - 12 x 100 or 4 - 6 x 200 off whatever your threshold pace is - I'll do 100 off 2 minutes, my threshold pace being 1:25
2 x 100 warm downgoing to have a look on there and try this next time i'm up at clissold.
London fields is the only outdoor heated pool i'm aware of in london. i don't think it being heated would be enough to get me out there right now though. /wuss

i obtained this as a project a loong while back from another forumer and as with a lot of projects, it got shifted to the back of the pile and then disappeared out of sight. it's going now that i have to move and haven't fixed it up since i got it, hopefully someone else can give it the time and attention it needs.
to make it good as new it would need:-
-a new strap for attaching to a brooks saddle
-a new strap for the top flap (not essential but frankly you might as well)
-a new brooks logoplate- a good shine up.
its black leatherette stuff and yea, it would look quite sweet on an old cycle. anyone want it? PM me.
can be picked up from N16 or W12 with notice. i'm a bit busy with moving to post so sorry, pickup's probably best.
cheers.
- a good shine up.

I've seen them a stupid amount of times over the last 15 years I know they are always so much fun. I will see them Sunday and Wednesday at the descendents though.
Kinda wish I'd gone but I know it's better I didn't.ahh, i didn't realise they were playing with the descendents too. i've been looking forward to seeing face to face too much to even think about anyone else on the bill. descendents will hopefully be better than April.

suicidal tendencies at Electric Ballroom or H20 at Kingston peel Tonight?
I need to make a decision. I've seen both bands plenty of times h20 never being bad
and ST being very hit or miss.
I've got a busted rib so I wasted on both shows.i went to H2O. good show, you could've enjoyed without dancing easily.

Wouldn't bother if I was you, on record he's a genius, live he sucks balls. Ive seen him countless times now and its always just 2 hours of earsplitting directionless undanceable balls.
(you may like to note that Im generally all for earsplitting directionless undanceable balls, but seriously, he's rubbish live)
after last night, i can thoroughly agree with this. i bought the ticket looking forward to scotch egg as well.
Mogwai better be fucking excellent tomorrow.

Wilfred Owen's my favourite poet. Not very on brief as it's not funny - he was a war poet - but amazing:
Dulce Et Decorum Est
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of disappointed shells that dropped behind.GAS! Gas! Quick, boys!-- An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And floundering like a man in fire or lime.--
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,--
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.final 2 lines of that were stuck in my head the other day, it's an excellent anti-war poem, vaguely remember studying it. (and some of the propoganda poetry used to recruit soldiers.Owens poetry is what stuck with me though)

Cheers guys.
The spot meter does help, brings a bit of certainty about the results I'll get.
Having joined this new darkroom is good too, means I can get regular access, everythings in better nick than the college darkroom and the twice that I've been already it's really just been me there by myself so no distractions.those are some pretty nice shots, what's the darkroom out of interest? (if its glasgow you're based in, wondering if it's street level, which i always meant to check out)
either way, it's nice work, and it looks like it's come out nice. made me miss home with the first couple pictures.
