Getting a frame blasted and then wishing to coat with laquer,would this last long,also any tips on blasting please,is glass blasting better than sand? no serious rust so looking for a process which isn't too harsh,anyone used the aluminium oxide process to remove paint,can this be cheaper?
Blasting will affect colour and surface texture of steel in many different ways. We use 3 different types of media (that I know of), also egg shell and vapour blasting.
All would give differing results, have you any thoughts on how you want it to look after blasting ?

My LBS has this subtle piece of bike porn......
You pedal as normal, then to engage the 2nd higher gear you pedal backwards - whilst still travelling forwards - WTF ? Imagine doing 20 odd mph through the traffic, then for swift overtaking - oh yeah pedal backwards 8-{
The feeling at speed must be bizarre
BTW, I am in no way employed at the said shop, and this is no way a cheap advertising ploy 8-)

Double seatpost bolt?
what are the wheels you got?Hey BG, yeah I got a double seat clamp bolt, I had a load of trouble trying to source a single 'IN STOCK' seat clamp while doing the 'build'. I had it from CRC in the 'FLOOD SALE' and it was only £1.50 ! The plan was to take it into work and make 2 singles if you will by milling it into 2, as with all plans - it didn't go to plan and is still as you see it.
The wheels I had from Graham Weighs - top north west track guy - used have all my kit off him when it was Deeside Cycles, when they used to have quality track kit & wheels in stock. They are Mach 1 Omega on flip flop black cartridge hubs, £75 delivered - take a look

I will post some better wheel close ups later

Glad you went down and met him in person, hes a nice guy ain't he - shame to hear he has Cancer :-{ and he can't ride, bet thats a real bummer for him as he used to organise a yearly ride for Flying Gate owners.
Really nice guy and frame builder - highly recommended to anyone looking to repair steel.

^ well done dude, they'll be happy of your support.
I was gonna attempt this event on my fxd as I have just got it on the road, but after months and months of using my s/s conversion mtb I am struggling with my Pomps 48/16. By the time this event comes around I will either have got used to it again, or the event will kill me trying to get round it.
Any ideas on gearing for events of this size, should I go up 2 teeth and run an 18 instead ?
TIA

rainrainrain. . .rain. everytime I finish a build it rains like a bastard.
I had the same thoughts myself ..... Finished off my Pomp yesterday morning and went off to work on it for the afternoon shift, you can imagine the scene last night trying to tackle the streets of Wolvo for the commute home while they were full of Friday night party goers, and the rain, oh the rain 8-{

^ my brother(what a tool) is a photographer. If you live local to Wolves I'm sure he would do it for you for free. TBH he did some for me a few years back - crikey what a load of pissing about - though he is a fanatical photography boffin.
Failing that Fursty ferret does photography and is also a forum member, based in Wolves, he would do it just cos he loves bikes etc
