Got a Monaco beginning of the week. It doesn't have the nice retro looks. But it's light, it's quick, it's cheap, and the handling is well behaved. Yeah the seat angle is slack, but it's not really a track bike, and it means your arms are nice and comfy when tanking down an open road on the drops.
Also everyone told me the tyres would be awful, but I find them pretty average. They don't need upgrading right away unless you want to go up to 25s.

Looking at the Bowery (what year is it?) I think the frame is the best bit. Get some nice wheels and chainset and you'll have a great bike for well less than 800 quid.
