For sale is my well used, but perfectly straight 08 Tricross singlecross frame. Comes with fork, Cane Creek headset and seat collar/alloy post.
It has numerous small scratches and scuffs from 2 years of pretty much constant use, but absolutely no dents. I've tried to show the worst of this in the photos.
Price £100 plus postage, or may be able to meet in central London on a weekday (based Peterborough)

Hi, need some parts to replace bits stolen from my Specialized Tricross single speed.
I need a wheelset, 700c, I'm after a strong, rather than light wheelset as I use the bike down the canal where the surface is not so good, and I want to fit wider tyres, so don't want a narrow rim. Preferably flip-flop rear.
I also need cranks. Something similar to what was there originally (Sugino messenger) would be ideal.
Thanks for looking.

I have an On One Scandal slot dropout. £215 for the frame. It's aluminium though...but it does make for a very light bike.

Looking for a drop handlebar, winter bike that I can commute on. Gears, fixed, single speed, whatever. Probably prefer the latter. Cosmetic condition not that important, but it must be in good mechanical nick and take mudguards, preferably come with them. Size 56-58cm. Budget definitely no more than £300.
Anyone have something?
Should add I'm looking for something with a low profile, and don't mean a smaller front wheel :o)

How much for one of those Hetchins frames? I've been marvelling at it, I don't know if I want one. It's gorgeous but a bit of me thinks it's too much. The builds on the website, there's just no need. Surely you want completely plain components, otherwise it just looks like a Christmas tree. I am a bit of a noob though, so what do I know?

I have sold this frameset (great bike but the ride quality is far too harsh!)
and have swapped everything over to a 'Bianco - with a Charge Spoon from one of my other bikes, a pair of Tektro V-brake cable adjusters, FSA headset and carbon 'post.
Loving the ride comfort plus the short frame (fag paper clearance with the rear mudguard!) gives nice handling......very impressed for the money. Ideal for workhorse duites......I doubt the white paint will stay clean for very long though!
I've been commuting 20 miles per day on the SS Tricross for 7 months and have increasingly become unhappy with the comfort. Nothing to do with the geo, but it's very harsh, crashy over bumps etc. A short spell during the summer commuting on my geared road bike made me realise just how harsh it is. So I thought I'd look around for alternative framesets to swap everything over. Looks like I've found the one for me.
How did you find the sizing? I am just over 6' with 32" inside leg, riding a 56cm Singlecross. Should I go for the 54 Pompino?
Does the frame take caliper brakes? I don't particularly like the V brakes of the Tricross.
When you say fag paper clearance with the mudguard at the rear, what size tyre?

One of these:

and one of these:

I've also had similar sized Tesco torches for £10 which also fit this mount. They are equally as bright but I found didn't have enough spread (i.e. the beam wasn't wide enough). Good for a helmet light, but not for the bars. Fenix good for either. Get some decent rechargable batteries, you'll get about 2 hours light from a single charge.

I recently bought a Holdworth with a view to converting to fixed. Luckily it came with a Maillard flip-flop hub, though on one side there is a freewheel for a derailleur block, so the axle is much longer on that side. Anyway, the other side is threaded for fixed, but there was no lockring.
Having read this thread I sourced a Mavic lockring from Condor (about £9). I fitted it last night but noticed as I was screwing it in that there is a bit of play in the thread. Not when it's tight, but as you're screwing it in you can wobble the ring from side to side a fraction. Only the same amount of wobble as on the fixed cog itself though, to be fair. But the dire warnings above got me worried I might have a mismatch.
If we assume that the lockring is French threaded, then since the French thread size is the smallest of the three, presumably a French lockring will not even fit onto an English or Italian hub? So it's likely that the hub is French threaded, unless anyone knows of Maillard producing English or Italian-threaded hubs? But as the lockring fits, albeit with play, I wondered if Mavic produced a non-French lockring which I might have been supplied by mistake. Anyone know if they do? I have searched but can't find a reference to a Mavic lockring that isn't French threaded.
Sorry for raking this thread up from the dead again. I am completely new to fixed but do have a couple of SS bikes, trying to learn about this fixed malarkey.
Yes I saw a guy (Italian I think) riding one up Ludgate Hill the other week. We stopped at the temporary lights and I asked him about it. He said he's on the 4th motor, they keep breaking down. He then whizzed off along the flat, leaving me wondering why he was kitted out in proper cycle garb.
