Many apologies for the delay / non-replying to PMs, I have been both out of the country then busy with work. I appreciate that people's circumstances may have changed since Christmas, so please do re-confirm, I'm hoping to get time this weekend to fold up the bikes and get them ready for collection. The dick in his range rover trying to get up a hill near me, spinning all four wheels in the snow, and going nowhere. Yes it's a 4x4, but race-style low profile tyres on massive alloys are not going to be useful.

Paris, 4cm of slush, just outside of Paris, about a foot of deep, fresh snow. I have rarely, if ever, had quite so much fun on a mountain bike. First ride ever in proper snow. Utterly brilliant. 20k in 2 hours...not very fast, but very hard work.

Did a big steep rocky descent that I know well (but hardly recognised in the snow), and instead of it being a bit of boneshaking bump-fest, it was smooth as, and I just rolled down, unreal. Then I hit a big rock lurking under the snow half-way down, which sent my front wheel one way and me the other. Into a big pile of snow. Big soft pile of snow, and big fat grins.

On the road on the way up to the forest I went up a hill and overtook some idiot in a range rover with 'racing' style low profile road tyres on massive alloy wheels, wheelspinning himself into trouble. 4 wheel drive = 4 wheel spinning. Felt very, very smug.

OK, Jacks are an "M" so please confirm or deny on that basis, jack-wanters.

Depending on the promptness of confirming or denying I can arrange to take payment and get these things shipped pronto.

Yeh not my captioning! Thought about doing that myself, most hotels have irons but not a hob and stove top.

Anyway, the question is: does anyone have a good suggestion of a cheap camping stove that works well and won't take 3 hours for the coffee to brew?

I have a very kind offer for a lock-up Highbury and Islington, but it would need to be super organised to have everyone turning up at more or less at once to collect. Seems like it could be a little tricky to me.

If Basha's happy to bring them in over a few days, then that sounds like it could work quite well. If people could indicate whether they're happy with Basha's offer, I can book the delivery and take payment from you lot, and we can try to get them over for the New Year.

£1200 in Evans, these have had 12 weeks use and are 700€, which makes them (a) a bargain and (b) less than half-price.

OK, we think the Jacks are a medium, confirmation expected shortly. I need to ship these to one address to try to keep costs down, so we need someone relatively central to volunteer to have a bunch of bikes delivered to their house / shop / whatever, and then dish out the bikes. (**EDIT **and it's Basha's kind offer that I have in mind, obviously!)

If we have somewhere to send them delivery could even be before New Year, just waiting on confirmation of availability.

The guys also wanted me to make clear that they are selling these without any form of warranty, guarantee or come-back, express or implied. They were tour bikes for one season and have had heavy use. They will probably require some attention to get them running nice and smoothly again. They are off-loading these cheaply (I think they could have made far more on ebay!!) and they are a bargain.

for those of you who want something a little racier, there are 2 Mu SLs, the lightest Dahon. Those bad boys are 1200€ new, these have been used for 12 weeks and are going for 700€. Separate thread coming!

yeh problem with stovetop is drinking too much, gotta get some longer roasted stuff like the italians go for. less caffeine, apparently. 12 cup pot will still give you the shakes (and worse), though.

Got a quote for shipping 1m3 for 150 notes. problem is, I don't know how many I can fit in as they're not perfect cubes or anything. If I can get 6 in there then it's 200€ + £25 in shipping. With today's shonky exchange rate we can say £195 shipped. This particular van will be doing Paris-London on 8th January.

Do those sorts of numbers sound ok?

As for sizing on the Jacks, my mate is adamant that they're one size fits all...I've even sent him a copy-paste from the dahon website, and no response.

I will let everyone know when I have space booked on the van and when I need money. I still have a UK bank account, or people can add 3% for paypal? Don't know what's best for this sort of thing.

If anyone has a van and a spare day and fancies making some money...speak up!

Done my weekly from Ipswich to London. Got all my positioning sorted so a fairly comfortable ride. Got a slightly annoyed when I visited a bike shop once back in London (to replace one of my lights that fell off my bag) to be told that I wouldn't know what to do with a 'real' bike.
whaT? that's a bit rude, innit? name and shame, dude...

short ride <30 km entirely ruined by a faint rubbing noise from the back wheel. Annoying. Think it was the mudguard. Annoying as hell, in fact. Nice to be out on a bike though.

Wasn't there a large theft from a Dahon warehouse earlier this year?

These arrived in January / February (i.e. pre-burglary), and they came from an authorised Dahon dealer. Probably have an original invoice if people are worried ;)

big apple tyres on the jacks = niceness. Still no price for jacks...still no shipping sorted. Still trying!!

Waiting on a price for the jacks. If they are similar money new then probably. If there's a bit of a difference then maybe a bit more. Hopefully photos later this morning.

There'll be another 50+ bikes this time next year if anyone's keen?!
