Anyone got any recommendations for a 1/8" track chain? I'm riding around a 25 mile round trip commute with a fairly heavy pannier most days throughout the year so I need something that will take a beating and won't stretch despite my best efforts. Not fussed about light weight. Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve

Picture me on my way home last night, being a good boy and stopped at the lights, working on my trackstand. Front wheel at about 90 degrees so I can do the stand without brakes. All too cool for school. Light goes green - off I go - hammer down. Except I forgot to put the front wheel straight first. Result - straight over the bars from stationary. Cue howls of laughter from the riders around and a barrage of banter all the way down Ken High St.

The tip here, SuperSim, is get your front wheel straight before you get on the gas again.

After some faffing on the phone & web (On-One don't have any ready-made in stock, won't for a while and they won't be £106 any more, Condor didn't really want to know on the phone), I took a trip down to Pearsons. Compared to the stock wheels that they put on the Touche (which are the same price as the Halos), the bearings on the Halos are much, much smoother. So I bought a pair. So far (OK, only a week in) I'm very happy. They feel a little heavy statically but they roll so quickly I'm able to get up to speed much more quickly and as a result am tearing my legs off where I was coasting before. Which is a good thing. After all of which, Spesh came back and gave me some spare Langster cones they had kicking around. Not sure whether to be hacked off or pleased.
Anyway, so far I think the Halos are pretty damn good. So there.

I too have looked at the Halos which seem to be engendering a love/hate reaction. So, can anyone recommend an alternative wheelset for 125 miles/week London commuting? Other options seem to be Condor, Pearson or On-One, which all seem to be coming in at about £175. Replaceable, cartridge bearings in well-sealed hubs are a must. Not fussed about colour, although I will say in the Halo's lime-green defence, a driver who hit you would have no "I didn't see him" defence in court.
Izumi Standard on its way. Have been trying to get LBS to get a track chain of any kind in for last two weeks and apparently "everyone's on back order". Hmmm. @Mechamorgan - Super Tough looks lovely, just can't justify £50+ on a chain. When the rich widow shows up we'll see though. Anyway, many thanks all for the responses.
Best
Steve
