i don't really agree with flaming a company because you don't like their prices. it takes a lot more to rent shop and employ mechanics than it does to rent a storage unit and register your business in jersey. i chose to support my local bike shop and i don't regret the decision for a second.
i've attached the quote as my figures in the original post were questioned.
wheels still available. sorry but can't be arsed to split unless you find takers for the other bits.

SOLD
H+Son / H plus Son 700c 36h Chrome Wheelset, BLB hubs, Black Mamba Tyres, 18t BLB sprocket + lockring
These come as you see the in the picture - complete with tyres, tubes, sprocket, lockring.
I've had them 6 months, and they've only seen light commuting so are in pretty good condition with only a couple of minor scratches and slight front brake wear, even the tyres are next to new! These are solid as hell, built by Brick Lanes Bikes.
Bought for £428 but they have to go so make me an offer.
G'wan get yourself some summer bling..
Thanks for looking.

Serious Q to the OP but I'm intrigued to know what you wanted to achieve from this thread?
I wanted to achieve making people think about what their actions do for the public perception of cyclists. I have been a cunty cyclist too but punching pedestrians without a reason is beyond cunty in my book.
Did you think the perp might be ON HERE?
I thought it was 50/50.
Do you think we need to be told that going round on a fixed gear bike punching people at random isn't cool?
I don't know who you're refering to but clearly some people either don't realise or don't give shit.
-
I was crossing the road by the Snooty Fox (N5) about an hour ago when a guy, on what looked like a fixie, decided to speed up in my direction in order to dispatch a swift punch to my shoulder. I was already on the pavement so I really think that in this case it was rather unjustified.
I just wanted to come on here and point out that most people already seem to hate cyclists so WHY THE F*$K give them any more of a reason.
Don't be a tool to society whilst cycling your bike in the hood.
Rant over.

my bianchi pista (decals removed) was nicked on saturday night from outside dalston kingsland station, its got polished h plus son sl 42's attached with those new solid axel pinheads so should be recogniseable, mostly blb parts apart from that.
if by any chance you see it listed anywhere please pass it on, the police would like a word...

Just had my wheels stolen from directly outside the Sebright Arms - opposite the seating area no less. It happened between 8pm and 10.30pm.
They are/were H plus Son SL42's (with the braking surface) - black with black spokes and nipples on black blb hubs 32h. They're quite old and I have run a brake on both of them so the front braking surface in particular is quite worn. One is also missing the sticker that sits above the valve hole. The front has a Maxxis Re-fuse tire, the back a brand new armadillo elite Roubaix. There is a Miche 18 tooth sprocket on one side and a Shimano freewheel on the other.
Those are the details.
I don't expect to see these again but be warned that area might be being targeted at the moment - on the way home I spoke to a guy from the bike shop on Hackney road (near Hoxton station) and he said I was the third person tonight that he'd seen walk past sans wheels.
If you are offered these wheels please take the opportunity to perform some street justice and thrust your foot or any other heavy object into the vendors genitals and/or abdomen.

i think you are being a bit pedantic. its a bike, its not meant to look like the virgin mary.
failing that.
I actually tried that, i bought this one:
It didn't look so great though - the ink is shiny, and you still get the black-silver-black because of the braking surface..
I prefer fastidious to pedantic.

is it black anodisation or paint?
paint stripper wont work on anodisation use oven cleaner for that. there are many threads on cleaning anodised metal
on second look yea, i think it might be anodised - its got that matt look/feel, its a h plus son in case anyone can confirm?
i did some photoshop visuals at the weekend though and i think i prefer black, just wish they weren't so tatty now..
visuals.. since this photo i've removed the decals and rear brake and put risers on it

Its not really a full on restoration, hence the thread title, but my black rims have gotten really tatty and scratched over the winter, also they are/were black so the scratches show up more and look like shit.
I would respray them/get them resprayed but the same thing will inevitably happen again eventually so i was thinking of stripping whats left of the black finish and just having the bare aluminium exposed..
Does anyone have any experience of this? Research suggests paint stripper and steel wool will work, but someone warned me this could make them look worse.. Any suggestions on how to make the rims look good again, sans paint?
ta very much
