I bought a set of these forks for a gravity bike , as i needed 20" forks with disk mount, the picture looked like 26" fork so I asked the seller to confirm the listing was correct, he confirmed and i bouhgt them, turns out they are 26" afterall , I fitted a 26"x1.9 semislick with normal amount of clearance. I'll didn't bother to return it as i will keep it for future projects, but the seller still has 2 for sale on ebay

I'm looking for a new copy of the highway code , where as my old one was about 200mm x 90mm , the new one printed by the government is 208 x 112mm , just a bit too big for pocket size , i've checked other places like the AA and BSM as they print copies , but they are also quite large
does anybody know if smaller versions exist like A6 size for instance?

I fitted a alfine hub dynamo to my XC bike and am very pleased , the technology has improved greatly in the latest shimano designs so drag is basically zero when switched off. I use a Supernova E3 Triple front light which can draw 12W when doing 30mph , and even then i cant feel any drag, but thats mainly due to the fact i'm usually on a downhill gradient when doing anything over 20mph
I'd never go back to any battery form of lights now, i was in the forest most evenings over the winter period, the light was just as bright as far as i could tell as the guys with battery lights, and the good thing at night there are not millions of dog walkers getting in the way

I've just ordered a pair of the smart R1, only £10.49 with free delivery , rude not to really
currently on the rear i have a cateye TL-LD1100 on the rear, which is good except for the bracket which requires a zip tie to keep the light facing horizontal, and on the front i have a supernova E3 triple, which is driven from an alfine dynamo, superb piece of kit , fit and forget , no charging of batterys, its always on , and nothing like what most people think a dynamo light is capable of , 800 lumens

my mate had a specialized stump jumper nicked from his shed , it was about 12 years old and everything on it was rusted or not working, but the insurance just posted him a brand new stump jumper within weeks, that was on house insurance
some insurance firms will have small print about outside buildings which include garages and sheds must be alarmed and secured with BS rated locks, they will only pay out if the police report specifies that such locks had been circumvented

i managed to fit my whole bike into an ice hockey kit bag , got some 2" stiff foam for the base and top , and zip-tied all the components to it so they wouldnt rattle , can fly from scotland to canada on 4 flights each way for only £30 extra , it just counts as extra normal luggage , but if its outwith normal luggage sizes , as a bike box is , KLM ask for £200 each way , the bag plus foam and compression straps only cost me £80 so saved money after only 1 trip
i used to travel with a 20kg tool case for work all round the world , you must report any damage before you leave the airort and get a report number , since my tool case was in the RS catalogue and very easy for airlines to replace , they never once asked me to have it examined , and replaced it for free every time , the case was only £90 so maybe more expensive luggage will require inspecting before replacement , and if you dont get what you want from the airlines , always follow up with a stiff letter quoting some crap from the geneva convention about luggage rules , thats always gets results

those pliers for seating the tyres are designed for burly double ply DH tyres with a big ridge of rubber to prevent pinch flats , when i'm fitting my biggest DH tyres i just pump them to 40psi then grip the tyre in the vice and work my way round seating the bead , i use this set of park tyre levers , TL5 , had them for ages , weigh a ton , indestrictible , but perfect shape for scooping those tight beads out of the rim without pinching the tube

"And we were inside hiding from it. In the car that was carrying all our shit. Hence the lack of footage of us riding in the rain, nor having anything on our backs/bikes the entire time."
(Just saying, still an epic ride and good job).
i did notice no footage of the support van that moved all the luggage and laptops and camera gear

i use a D lock on the shopping bike throuhg just the frame , and at home 3 of my bikes are locked to the garage floor with a motorbike chain , i never leave my expensive bikes in public , as too many of the bits would be taken or the bike itself , the shopping bike is basic and no QR parts
i use a flashing front LED and the cateye rear LED flashing with 10 bulbs , i only ever bike in streetlight areas in the dark , and notr very often on the shopping bike , i do go XC in the local forest , and just come home when its gets too dark to ride , i luve on the edge of the forest so never bothered with lights
i did consider mudgaurds for my bike , but its just more hasle to keep straight and look after , i am lucvky in that if its raining i can hold off till its stops , or just go cycling the next day
when i'm out in the shopping bike i always have my backpack , so can store lights in there if i'm going to be some time , if its just 10mins in tesco i leave the lights on the bike
my D lock came with a bracket to attach to the frame , but UK roads are too bumpy to use it as it can never hold it steady enough
for lights i go for performance as measured in group tests , and solidness of build , price is not a factor for me within reason as if you buy cheap you buy twice

in aberdeenshire they run duathlons in winter , its run-bike-run , some of the events they do novice and expert distances , did my first one last august , and hopefully get another 2 this spring , the bikes ranged from full on carbon TT bikes to my full suspension mountain bike , i can 10 out of 15 in my category , very nice atmosphere as well with them , so keen to improve upon my results , might even buy a road bike in the future

by signing this petition it makes cyclists look a bit stupid , as road users we are the same as any drivers or pedestrian in that we should know the highway code , and rule #163 states that when passing a cyclist with a vehicle , the cyclist should be given as much room as when passing another vehicle. to acheive that it means that or tight roads vehicles should wait until the opposite way is clear before pulling out to overtake , just as they would do when passing another vehicle , on roads where i suspect cars will try and nip past and be too close , i cycle in the centre of the lane , and on dualcarridgeways when approaching a roundabout to turn right , i take a centre position on the outside lane , if vehicles thought i was only allowed to take 3 feet , it would seriously impede cycling safely on dual carridgeways
I'd like to do some frame painting, how do I transition from 1 colour to another without leaving a ridge where the masking take was?
Been googling for guides but most stuff is for painting house walls
