Brompton hive-mind.. do you have any ideas on this conundrum..?
Whilst carrying a Milian Pere child seat across London (with one end poking out of the top of a messenger bag) I arrived at my desitnation to find that one half of the seat-post clamp had vanished - I assume it worked its way loose and fell off (I vaguely recall hearing a mysterious PING! as I passed Emirates Stadium!).
.. the now missing, presumed lost forever, part is this (the side with the twisty knob thingy, including that half of the metal clamp)..
.. as Milian seem to be no longer trading the chances of finding a genuine replacement part seem slim - but equally it looks like the sort of generic clamp that might also be used for loads of other bike-related purposes? Or could be fashioned/3D printed somehow? Inevitably I'm a bit reluctant to consign the whole thing (which fetch £150+ on EBay) to the bin, for the sake of, what is probably, a £2 clamp..?

This has definitely seen better days but it's free (located in N10)..
One caveat is that I had to mount this pretty low on my mountain bike due to braze-ons, and it bounced onto the tyre a few times which is why that grey bit in the middle is scuffed/worn in pic 3. I don't think it's a structural risk at all, and I used it like that for ages, but buyer-beware etc..
I have the clamp for the seat tube too, I just left it on the bike in case someone asks me to deliver it.. ;)

I have one of those eye-wateringly expensive Brompton child seats (inc saddle and clip) gathering dust.
I believe they are in relatively short supply, but it looks like you can get them (without saddle and pentaclip) delivered for £189 from SJS
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/frames/milian-pere-child-seat-mount-only-for-folding-bike/
I paid £140 on here and used it three times. I appreciate it's not exactly bargainous but I imagine it may just get bought/flipped for much less.. anybody interested for £110?
I can probably deliver it within Zone 2ish..

Argh sorry, somehow none of these posts or @ 's appeared for me until I went hunting for updates - ironically at the exact time you will have been kicking off the season! Well done for getting out there...
I'm still in the office so couldn't have made it anyway, but will be keeping my eyes peeled in future..

I started off with a set of old, very much non-waterproof, wired kids £20 cast-offs that a relative was going to throw out - expecting them to last maybe a week on the turbo. I treated them with utter contempt - including leaving them to 'dry' on the washing line for months at a time while they got pissed on. Incredibly they ended up lasting nearly 3 years despite being perpetually wet/disgusting for nearly all of that time. They even still 'work' now but all the non-plastic parts have degraded and/or fallen off.
By contrast I bought some 'top-rated' (but still only £50) 'waterproof' BT replacements and they are starting to physically degrade within a month (albeit the electrics seem ok). I'm guessing they won't last a year though.
Unfortunately I suspect the IPX ratings can be taken with a pinch of salt.. as it's not going to replicate filling them up with corrosive salty water every day/week - but my own experience suggests the electric bits suffer less than I'd expect, but the rest falls apart slowly anyway. If you care about the ones that you have, I'd suggest you don't use them as you will eventually become disgusted by them (unless they are for the Turbo only or you use MEGA-FANS from all angles!).
My next purchase will probably be another kids (I have a small head) Argos special that are light and cheap enough to be considered almost disposable.. (I also prefer over-ear, to drown out other noise and in-ear never seem to fit/stay in properly)

Love to see it. Could you share a pic in use?
I'm not sure if this is what your after, but here you go..
.. I thought it might be a bit wobbly but it's actually been rock solid. I guess whole thing weighs about 450g which, considering I'd probably put a 300g mudguard on if it wasn't there anyway, doesn't seem too bad..
I've toyed with the idea of trying something like this (also on the rack) instead..
.. but I'd probably just end up cutting the straps off and ultimately losing some storage/flexibility so would just be a vanity purchase really.

add some rigid plastic
make a rigid base
I've been waiting years for someone to come out with a minimal rack top bag that would be thin enough to work with a Tubus Airy (admittedly a niche market!). In the end I resorted to the dry bag/Voile thing and used a cut up Ass Saver as a base like this (the saddle rail bit clips to the rack struts)..
.. the cut outs mean I can also use it with (front) panniers, but mainly just with Voile rack straps and a cheap dry bag. The rest of the time it just gets left there as a shitty mudguard. Amazingly Gorilla tape has lasted >5 years.
The closest I have seen a 'proper' bag for my purposes would be one of the bigger fork leg or down tube bags (Apidura, Salsa or Revelate), some of which have a thicker base to handle the rub, plus their own straps. None are ideal though, and probably too small for most purposes.

Has anyone tried this?
Looks like a great idea to me - I think some of the 'professional' designs are reliant on little more than a bit of rubber or some big squash balls anyway! My only concern would be that the whole thing would 'walk' around a bit on that shiny floor, but on carpet/a mat I'm sure it would be fine..
I've had bits of cut-up yoga mat under the feet of my trainer for 2 years (initially to stop it wobbling - then adding more to make it comfier) and not had any mishaps (yet!).

My 130 never seemed much different, in terms of GPS performance, to the larger units (my 830 often under-reads in the denser parts of Surrey, for example).
In fact, I've been wearing a 5 year old Garmin watch a bit recently and, if anything, it seems more accurate around tall buildings than the 830 - so I'm not sure the size of the unit is necessarily a determining factor in that respect..

My wife had a bad reaction to a red ink previously..
Apologies for the epic dredge (only just discovered this thread)..
This has possibly been done to death but my wife is also having a reaction to red ink (raised, discoloured skin and some itchiness, very obviously on the small red parts only)... but the kicker is that this has only appeared 2.5 YEARS AFTER getting the tattoo and has now been continuous for a further year..
Any ideas as to the trigger or possible solution?

how he got this gig..
I don't mind him either, but I think he did reluctantly get forced to admit he'd been a guest at some Parisian societal dinner for Oxbridge alumni (or something) the other day.. which probably doesn't hurt matters!
In his defence, he did also acknowledge that Adam Blythe would take the piss out of him massively for this..

I apologise for the extremely boring question, but is this the first year of all-disc, all-electronic? Or was it last year? I know there were rim brakes the year before. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Why do I care?
... and what happened to the weekly reports of 'hot disc sliced my foot, face, leg open and ate my hamster..' type coverage that seemed to be flooding in when only a handful of bikes had them on..? All false alarms - or just not newsworthy now?
I’ve done the retracing but unfortunately it was a few days before I even realised it was missing, so it seems a lost cause in that respect. And yeah the clamp is slanted which inevitably complicates matters..
