I know it's a Colnago and it has been handbuilt by virgins in the Vatican or something but still.
Good night
Handbuilt by Italian Pikey cunts, Colnago's are soooo overrated or was that overpriced!!?! Had a customers in recently with a CK 2 nut headset (kept coming loose), the headtube hadn't even been faced! And it wasn't just a small amount!! Proper shitty for a supposed "ferrari"

Royce aftersales "FTW", Cliffs a true gent, modified my rear cassette hub spindle and provided two plungers (which look to be titanium!!) for his new ez lube system for owt! The best bit.. posted my axle friday, he rang me monday to say it was ready!
Couldn't recommend them enough. As for £70 for an axle and spacers, seems cheap for a precision machined titanium axle with a lifetime warranty. Oh it seems the design of Phils hubs are a winner for re-spacing!

That's quite an impressive transformation. Rory O'Brien used to be my LBS many years ago.
Cool, I have met quite a few "old skool" roadies that were also local, one guy Jon reconed the first frame he got was from them and was built by Vic Edwards. Steve Sachs (sp?) took over the shop after Rory OBrien passed away and unfortunately it is no more. We had a frame of Steve's in work a few years back, that was yummy, it was a RO'B with chrome head lugs, looked sweet!
I got a "spare" set of decals through at work today for the strip and revise when it comes to it. Chipped the TT the other day, so it's already gathering "patina". Chrome lugs!... and the head transfer in the place i wanted it originally. We shall see..
What is the rim/tyre combination you have chosen?
Opted for 27x1 1/4 Weinman 36H (no hooked beads!!!) with 28-630 Panaracer Pasela Tourguards, old skool! To keep with the right looks and utilise the large clearances. (I have a pair of period Bluemels Popular mudguards in black needing some plating and stainless stays, come shit weather). Spokes were 302mm x3, so DT Comps rear.. ran out after lacing my rear wheel, so did the front x2, which meant I could use DT Revs (butt down to 1.5mm). Brass nipples and linseed oil.
Im tempted to build a pair of Ghisallo Beech sprint rims onto someting yummy for posing! More monies I don't have!! Get some "sprint carriers" and go time trialling my smoked out lungs and feebal legs! Haha.

Hello peeps, don't post on here often, but i do, so thought i'd share some pics of my little project thats been on the back burner for some time. A circa 60's 72 parallel Nervex lugged, Shop branded Rory O'Brien, most prob. built by Vic Edwards (Rondinella).
Was given the frame by a customer (I work in Madgetts Cycles, Diss), measured it up, 22" seat tube, 21.5" TT, thats about my size! So it hung at work for some time, looking like this..

The only modification i made was to remove the brake bridge for centre pull shit type brakes.
http://www.londonfgss.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11307&stc=1&d=1245395162
So in between spending far too much monies and time on supercharged polos, i finally got round to getting the frame restored.
http://www.londonfgss.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11308&stc=1&d=1245395162
The frame cost me £50 for new chrome plating. circa £20 for Decals (H Lloyd) and £75 for paint. It came out rather well all except too much chrome on forks and the head transfer i'd asked to have on the seat tube!

Seat needs some adjustment!

And a customers bike, which i love. It's a 1949 lugless Holdsworth.

I apologise for the offensive quality of my camera (phone)! And for my inability to suss out uploading pictures properly!

Basically steels gonna be more comfortable than aluminium alloy. However, if you do want horizontal t/t alu frame, ridleys tend to come in this formation. Pompino or surly would prob be my choice.
Canti's are the "winner", get some of the old style like the old mafacs if you can, paul price makes bling interpretations of these or iirc Tektro/(one of the Tai companies) do something similar.
As for pushing; I ride 61" on road which is nice, but also compatible with off-road work, try something around the low sixties and if you need bigger or smaller, change your sprockets accordingly.

Plastics no fun, can't you find a beer can to use? Much sharper edges!
It's great all the what i call "proper (old boy) cyclists" bikes that i take loose cup and cone b/b's out of, always have a home-made metal sleeve in them. Works great, unlike cardboard, which i found in someone's shell one day.. wet cardboard, nice!

Points heard, but on a daily cut through the winter shit bike, i wouldn't really give a fuck about weight (too much), if my running gear could be replaced for under a tenner, obviously there is an initial greater outlay, but it's a similar difference as buying LED lights over halogen.
