Finally got some time to update.
All parts are collected and ready for assembly. I dont have a bearing press so the headset will be left to the professionals.
Frame was painted by Jon Aston at http://www.chickensframeemporium.co.uk/ really happy with the outcome.
Opted for a metallic burgundy which is hard to pick out unless in direct sunlight, Jon did a great job as did H Lloyd in creating custom colour decals to suit the frame.
Wheels are also finished, fully serviced by me and laced by Anthony and Richard at True Wheels using stainless butted spokes. I fitted Vittoria Open Corsa tyes to finish off.
Waiting on a BB cup which went missing and then i can assemble the final bike.

Amazing response, thanks Graeme.
Agreed the covers could press in a little more.
These cones were fitted when I got the hubs, have mailed the previous owner to see if he can shed any light.
There are no part numbers on the cones themselves so length of cone is the only way to know I guess.
If you could measure some you have that would be fantastic.
Everything seats correctly so I guess I could make something at work if all else fails.
Thanks

Hi
I have recently serviced this (new to me) Campag Record Pista wheelset. Rear hub was perfect and spins forever on the new bearings and grease but the front is a different story.
Dazzled by the shineyness ofnew things didnt really think too much about the fact that one side of the axle was only finger tight. Serviced the hub but when i went to reassemble have realised that the cones sit almost inline with the dust covers, rendering it impossible to get a cone spanner in to tighten them down.
As you can see the cones are proper Campag but could be off a different model and i'm unsure whether the silver spacers are standrard fit or have been used to pack the spacing out.
Can anyone measure the length of a record pista cone as i'm sure this is the most likely explanation, unless anyone has other ideas?
Thanks
Alex

Liking the look of this.

Have no experience of French frames. Do they use common sizing or would finding parts be a nightmare? -

Thanks so much for your support!
I have now put my Gay-Ass in a box (No euph) and can courier via UPS Economy for £14 in the UK.
To add some details to the wheels, they are 8mm axle on front hub and the rear hub a 10mm with a rear spacing of 110mm.
Hub is double fixed and comes with a 15T cog and lock ring not sure on brand of these.
They have also been boxed and can also be sent for £14 via UPS Economy in the UK.

^^Hahn Racecraft 20G is used on the whiteblock I5 by a few people, not that much more effective than a big 16G though it would seem, although that spins backwards and would have been much more of a pain in the arse to package.
I dont know much about them to be honest. It has the same flange as the IHI and is more reliable, it would seem. So they were the main reasons of sticking it on.
It had to be clocked like the IHI and the actuator bracket moved as they were obviously never destined for this block.
There is a guy who has gone through 16g, 18g and 20g on a TT and got the most power (407bhp on a 1.8L) with the 20g. Hence our early estimations of power.
I just want to break 400 as it looks good in the for sale ad!

Also pics of said two projects are mandatory!
As requested, here is the S3 in its tart phase but was too low and scraped everywhere
It was raised, sold the Bentleys and had a clocked IHI turbo with supporting modifications to make 332hp.
It had a wobbly pinked really badly and took out cylinders 2 and 3, destroyed the head and made a bit of a mess, still dont know what caused this to happen? Anyways I now have a 1.9L block with fully forged bottom end, Titanium valve assembly and one piece valves. It is now running a TD05 20g turbo which was a little tight and meant some modification/hacking of the transfer box.
This should be finished installing on Saturday, along with some other modifications to the map sensor, lambda, exhaust and inlet/TIP. The guy that rebuilt the turbo is then coming down to map it on a mates RR. With anti lag, launch control and an 8k hard cut rev limit to exploit that head. Early predictions are 400-430 at the flywheel.

haha, I would have obliged!
Cheers, its been through a few builds since I have owned it but this variant is my favourite.
