I'm 5'2". I really like 650c, most of my bikes are ~48cm frame size but the 650c ones noticeably fit me better. The ones with 700c wheels have lots of toe overlap, feel really high off the ground, etc.
I've got quite short legs and long torso so I run a ~110mm stem on my 650c bikes and that seems ok. If you are long-legged you might find the saddle-bar drop a bit too much? With the quill stem there's room to move it up I believe but probably not tons.

2005 model bought new in December 2008, it's done 1000 miles over the years as an erstwhile commuter mostly in good weather. Some surface rust on some bolts but the frame and everything else in good shape, a few scratches as expected. Still have the owner's guide that came with it. Got something more commuter-friendly a while back so this one has to go.
Running fixed with original 1/8" chain and 48T chainring but with 18T on the back (will throw in the original 16T cog). It's a flip-flop hub so easy to stick a freewheel on the other side. 650c wheel size as mentioned in the title.
I have it set up with front and rear brakes (currently Euro style but easily swapped), sawed-off Profile Design TT base bars and Tektro bar-end levers but will include the original drop bars. Also swapped the stem over to an aheadset adapter plus 100mm non-oversize, but will include the original quill stem which was about 80mm if I recall.
Tires are Conti GP 3000s, lots left on them. Wellgo flat pedals. Saddle came off my Hoy track bike, not sure what happened to the original Fuji saddle.
The rear wheel has a bit of a wobble thanks to my pannier hook catching in one of the spokes, I have straightened it out but it's not perfectly true. Said spoke also has a noticeable dent in it, but it's completely rideable.
Will throw in the beam rack if desired (clamps onto seatpost, can take 15kg iirc).
£165 or make me a sensible offer. I'm located in KT1 Kingston but probably could ride it somewhere not too far away so I can run back home again -- Richmond Park or a rail station. Not willing to post it. Cash only please.

I was about to recommend that one to someone but then had a look at the loads of negative reviews on the Clas Ohlson website (many in Swedish but auto-translated) and it appears that they are terrible in terms of the keys not working or the lock mechanisms seizing after a while and leaving the bike somewhere locked up unable to get it open. So worth rethinking having this lock on the list, if it's actually unreliably unlockable it's not worth using.

Looking for a hub gear or urban singlespeed something vaguely road-like, not too upright hybrid or MTB... so a Kona Paddy Wagon, Marin Fairfax, Cube Hyde, etc. in good nick. Any other suggestions for makes/models worth looking at?
Needs to have mudguard and rack mounts. Smallest size possible really.
Will travel a reasonable distance to collect but ideally somewhere around London. Budget around £300.
Looking forward to cleaning up and posting my Fuji Track SE for sale once I get something more fit for purpose to carry panniers around town.

Not sure if it's been mentioned above, but I get email notifications to threads I'm subscribed to, and when I click the link it doesn't take me to the first unread post but rather the first post of the entire thread! Stolen Bikes is about 500 pages long and 7 years old... annoying to not be taken to first unread post.

Gatorskins are shite for grip. Try some GP3000s or 4000s instead.
I actually ride Michelin Pro Race 3/4s year-round on all my bikes including 650c. Very dependable and stable in the wet, and pretty durable for me (53kg, inflate to 90-100psi). They aren't cheap though, and I check them before every ride for bedded stuff and pick it out. Which is a bit high-maintenance for many riders, hmmv.

Surely a manned CCTV monitored lockup should be considered somewhat safer than open street parking... Or are you saying that "secure" parking is completely pointless?
Not completely useless, but yeah pretty much. Same goes for communal hallways in shared accommodation. Why would you think your bike is any more secure in a place where people you don't know well have access to it and could let a friend steal it?
I used to lock my bike in my room (behind a locked door) in the shared flat I had. Better safe than sorry. In terms of work, I wouldn't ride anything that I would be gutted to see stolen.

Oceans 11
Sorry about your loss mate. Still I can't quite get my head around this... We're talking about a supposedly securely locked bike in a gated, manned and CCTV monitored area. How the fuck did that happened?
Maybe (likely) someone else who uses the lockup and has been eyeing yours up for a while?
We already know that good bike thieves can steal a D-locked bike pretty quick and make it look like they're just unlocking it and riding away. He might have conned security into letting him in as well ("forgot my key, mate!")
The security at our old workplace's bike lockup were well dodgy, didn't trust them one bit. Rode my shite MTB and nothing better than that on the occasion I needed to be in the office there.
The worst security is false security, I don't think you can treat a manned, CCTV'd or locked bike area any different to the open street when it comes to your bike being nicked. If someone wants your bike, they'll find a way to take it.

Thinking of picking up one of these when our bike to work scheme finally starts.
How is the gearing on it? Would someone new to riding fixed struggle on 46/15?also if anyone can recommend some decent anti puncture tires that would fit on this that would be great.
Mine came with 48x16 which was a bit big for me (going over the hills in Richmond Park). 46x15 is bigger than that and seems pretty big to me unless you've got giant legs or like to pedal at 75rpm.
Easiest solution for me was to swap to 48x18 which works nicely but I like to spin my legs. If I had a 46 on the front I'd go with a 17 I think.

Police have found some high-end bikes in Richmond. From 'This is Local London'.
That's a very badly written article -- I don't think they've actually found these yet as I know the owner and he has definitely given the police all the info about his bikes so if they have recovered them, they'll know the bikes are his.

The problem with direct action is I have heard that some of the traders on brick lane etc are... shall we say not unamenable to the use of fisticuffs? Be careful if you're.. ahem.. suggesting their wares may not be quite pukka.
Still I do find it astounding the police don't send at least one bobby just to walk around there...
What's one bobby going to do... they need an extended undercover operation where they not only bust the people selling but get at the entire network of thieves and buyers and choppers. Busting the odd BL seller isn't going to make a dent in the organised crime that is bicycle theft these days.

How is that guy still going.... So many stolen Brooks :-(
He's dumb enough to list his girlfriend's little company on ebay on his own account, with local pickup. Probably find a big stash of Brooks and other stuff there if you find him. All his stolen saddles are posting only, under various ebay names.
Edit: forgot to quote previous post!

Start buying 'em... then complaining to ebay you didn't receive the proper one. Get a refund via Paypal and ebay, or if you have to return one, send him back an old ripped to shit saddle you don't care about.
Lots of ways to scam ebay sellers, the buyer nearly always wins and Paypal doesn't care, they'll just refund you for anything.
(I don't advocate this for legit sellers of course, but this guy gets what's coming to him. He's a shit seller anyway, read his feedback).

anybody missing a dolan?
Relisted despite the first listing with winning bid yesterday. Same pics.

Guy already has one feedback along the lines of "sold goods then wouldn't deliver and relisted them to sell again". Also, his feedback seems to be private, so I'm not sure how he can continue to sell?
Anyone got a shill ebay account they can bid him up to thousands then royally screw him around?

I also raced the circuit yesterday. Of all the circuits, it's not my favourite though I will be back to give it a go in better weather and once I've done some more racing this year (that was my first race yesterday after over 18 months off). A bit too artificially selective imo with all those 180 degree turns.
The pavilion was already supposed to be completed which is why the portacabin clubhouse has disappeared leaving the place pretty rudimentary. I think the current finish date is end of May.
The normal start-finish line is near the bridge, so about halfway up the long draggy climb. Yesterday given the conditions, it made more sense to put the line nearer the parking lot.
Track is definitely better than Hog HIll in terms of punctures, there were probably only half a dozen yesterday whereas HH would have had half the field! That's due to the surrounding ground though -- clay/mud rather than flinty bits.
Nope sorry, sold.
