My girlfriend has just mentioned that on her way into work (around 9.30/9.45) she saw two riders down one on the Hyde Park Corner roundabout and the other down constitution hill in front of Buckingham Palace.
Ambulances were in attendance at both and there were no stopped vehicles or police so its not clear what might have happened (i.e. hit and run/heart attack or something else...)
Hope they are both ok. The chap at Buckingham Palace was on the pavement getting treatment. The other person was already inside the ambulance...
Heal up fast.

I have just posted this: http://www.lfgss.com/post2745938-684.html on the forum and apologies if this isn't exactly the right place for it but I was keen to spread the word...

Just a quick one - my dad heard something on the radio about the Times cycle campaign and emailed me the following:
*There was a section on the radio at lunch time about the Times campaign. This is useful and I would advice you to flag up the cycle hazard sites on their interactive map. I have put in two of the three that I have identified.
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/cyclesafety/contact/
If these are brought to the attention of local councils and politicians then they risk condemnation and prosecution if they fail to address the issue and there are further problems.*
Thought I should post it here...

Looks like my favored retort to dangerous drivers is under legal threat.
...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8314125.stm"a law bans "fat-ism"... and stops doctors pressing patients to slim down"
But of course! God forbid a doctor actually suggests that someone lead a healthy lifestyle and lose some weight. Fucking ludicrous IMO.

When I first started riding a ss (I have now graduated to fg), I was outside Bermondsey tube on my morning commute in... pulled up to a traffic light, got distracted by someone crossing (yes, I'm a perv) and failed to kick out. Fell over side ways, put my hand out on a car to stop myself. Hand slipped and I crashed down ending up with with my head tucked in front of the car's front wheel. Managed to damage the guy's wingmirror on the way down too. Got up quickly, gave the diver an apologetic wave and braced myself for a torrent abuse...
None came. The guy just looked at me pityingly and shook his head. I don't think I have ever felt so embarrased... Made a hasty exit (mainly becuase I am not sure he was aware that I had pretty much fucked his mirror).
Has only happened once since and that was at a roundabout where I totally misjudged a car and found he was travelling a lot slower than I had thought and I had a total trackstand fail.
Would never swap from clipless riding tho...

I think this is probably the practical point here...
all i can reasonably say is that if someone has gone to the trouble of putting up a threatening sign, they might care about it enough to break your lock and take your bike / and it would then be for you to take action to get it back and recover any damages for the lock. given that the law is uncertain, it would unlikly be a straighforward process, and litigation of any sort is inevitably costly, worrysome and inherently risky. for those reasons alone, and perhaps thinking simpy that you would not care for a random to chain their property to yours and bugger off, it might be best to avoid locking your bike to private property.
I would guess that whoever takes a bike in this case would not surrender it easily. You could probably bet that they will make it difficult to contact them or deny responsibility at the outset (unless they are looking to gain a quick buck)...

Hi all,
An appeal for witnesses to a collision last night:
Was on Battersea Park Road last night (18/03/15) and suffered a collision with a Volvo (an XC60, XC70 or XC90 - not 100% sure). Time was 18.40 and I was heading west on my way home from work. Was in the left lane going straight on and had a green light. Traffic on my right (in the same lane) was moving. The Volvo driver at the junction with Havelock Terrace and Prince of Wales Drive (the junction next to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home) who was heading east (ie opposite direction to me) on the same road turned across my lane into Havelock Terrace. Collision resulted. Pretty banged up but limping wounded. Would be great if anyone here knows someone who witnessed the accident and could pass on contact details.
Have reported to the police, but didn't grab any witness details at the time (mainly as no cars other than the Volvo driver hung around for long). One cyclist did stop, but I totally failed to ask for a name and number - in shock.
Thanks.
