jammy - that 7-string is awesome, but i just can't get my head around that fanned fret layout!
i love guitars that use good woods. they just have an extra something about them, tone aside. i got rid of all my electric gear a couple of years ago (amp, pedals and guitars) and got myself a Larrivee parlour acoustic. it has a satin finish sitka/rosewood top/back and sounds great for a small guitar. i wanted the full Koa version, but my wallet wouldn't stretch that far! the short scale also means i can go heavier on the strings without killing my fingers.
i don't think i will ever tire of playing it...

waiting at the lights on the Upper Richmond Road at Barnes the other night i had a guy half hanging out of a car about three vehicles back shouting "you fucking stay there boy. don't you dare ride off, you fucking wait there". needless to say, i didn't bother hanging around for the light to change to see what this nutter wanted. a bit further up the road, he went past me, still hanging out the window shouting "you fucking scumbag" with such hatred it was scary. it looked as though he was in a minicab, and the driver was giving me as wide a berth as possible (which was something at least).
i don't know why people do this - maybe they were just ignored when they were little. i took solace in the fact that he had hair like those x-factor twins... -

I've been a tubenger and a walkenger today, and I just got In a black cab with a driver who was sympathetic to our cause! He said he admired me for riding in London with all the shit drivers (himself included). Granted, he blamed the immigrants and the learner scooter riders for the ills of the road and the lack of a pie mash shop in battersea, and charged me a small fortune for getting himself stuck in traffic, but I didn't get wet.
I'm not sure who the winner is here...

Do you finish work early enough to get on a train home before the ban kicks in again?
i'm making a point of leaving work at about 4:15pm at the moment, so i can make the train if i want.i'm doing the brick lane to teddington ride a couple of times a week, and getting the train the rest of the time. if i leave it later than 4:30pm it's touch and go whether i'm allowed to put my bike on the train.
the guards, to be fair, don't seem to mind you getting on if it's a few minutes into the restricted time, but then you're dealing with the dirty looks again!

the comment from Kev doesn't surprise me though. i get the train into waterloo every morning, and have to be on it before 6.30am or i can't take my bike. i strap it up in one of the nice bike slots that SWT have, that cleverly sits in front of two fold up chairs - they call this flexible space.
you should see the looks people throw around when they see seats 'they've paid for" being blocked. seem to forget that i have paid for the use of the train too, and SWT have provided the facility for use on the train at that time of day.
at least once i HTFU and cycle all the way into work i won't have to deal with it anymore...

strangely, i still have the speech on this PC from my brothers wedding. i've attached if it helps. it's a mix of generic and related stories, but i found that it flowed quite well on the day.
speak slowly and loudly. you might think you are dragging your feet, but a slow, well delivered speech is far better than a rushed one.
enjoy it too, because as someone said before, everyone in the room is hoping you do well. they will laugh...
oh, and the story about the fire is 100% true.... ;-)
