That is a truly beautiful project and I get the models too, I always make a model to get my 'brain round' an idea. Brazing with Acetylene/oxy is wonderful and one of my favourite processes, but I have had to switch to propane recently, you can do it as brazing is more about the volume of heat rather than the very high temp focused flame acet was designed for. An air blown torch with propane as fuel works well and you can use compressor as well, don't know what you have over there but the most common ones in uk are Flamefast. Very interested to follow your experiments, silver flows easy with air blown propane but I would guess it's only useful with lugged builds? I've used TIG to braze bronze, it does not flow as well as a flame, may be worth a go. Again an inspirational bike, sir!

FORKS
Red, Reynolds forks in good physical condition no dents or rust but lots of scuffed paint.
These are from my Old '80s Ribble road frame now deceased, the forks were never stickered so if 501 or 531 I can't tell, but they have always run very well.
1inch steerer is 180mm with 40mm of thread, eyes for guards.
I can thread a little more if you need so. £30http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=2037&pictureid=13417
GAS WELDING/CUTTING SET
Thought I'd offer this up on here as I know there are several folks who are interested setting up bike workshops or having a go at frame building.
All in good shape and rarely used hence sale, Harris branded, this is a very easy to handle torch and well suited to smaller jobs. Only lightly used for sculpture, brazing, welding and cutting. Hoses in good condition, gauges looked after, with flashback arrestors fitted. Lots of kit; nozzles, cleaning reamers, spark gun, misc tools and there is a trolley and empty bottles. It's like a BOC portapak.
The bottles are free since you would have to go to Air Products or BOC for a gas contract any way. £150 DalstonAlso a welding manual and mask.
Everything to get you brazing, welding or cutting except the consumables ie: gas and rods.
I have some other welding kit for sale, but it's not suitable for bikes ie: Oxford oil cooled arc set 180amp very heavy, very reliable. Awesome.

Apolloxl,
if it's already got a hole it probably just needs opening up only a tiny amount to accept the bolt, use a reamer, it's too easy to balls up metal parts with electric drills...

makes no sense in/on anything digital but try your best it's awesome, and Mr. Swine surely MES "lost in music" is his greatest cover moment? Not heard that beatles cover though; good find and well, mark can do what he likes no-one can cover him - uh.

Hi folks,
there's something dust/hair like appearing on my pictures and discernible through the rear screen of my G9, done the usual with air dusting - several times now but just moved it more central!
Don't really want to have to dismantle this, anyone recommend somewhere London to get it cleaned and not bodged. Checked out Fixation mentioned earlier in thread but appears they don't touch compacts.
Cheers, -
I'd seen replicas for around £800 before and ummed and ahhed. I think £350 is a great deal. Probably shouldn't be spending that sort of money at the moment, but it'll hopefully be keeping my arse comfortable for decades to come...
How long does your course last, and when does it start? I tend to do shift patterns that last 2-3 months, so you never know..
£800 is a lot for me, but is still a fraction of the Hermann Miller Eames and they hold the licence.
Would put me in a bike, guitar, chair loop I would doubtless remain locked into. That course I mentioned is 6 friday evenings Nov -Dec.
As for the arse seat or maybe a self-loveseat, I can only concur with mr precise...eeuw

That sounds cool. I'd be interested, but I work funny shifts, which rules that sort of thing out.
:(Hi sparky, yeah doing courses and working can be a real time conflict, which is a shame because I keep meeting people who really want to make all kinds of objects for themselves. But you never know, I got this one going because folks asked...
Looks like you got a fantastic deal on the Eames, very impressed, I don't know about groupon but you can easily pay a couple of grand for these classic designs. -
Rg 37,
at risk of being accused of spam - dons hard hat...
I teach a basic intro to wood and metal design at City Lit, it's really aimed at beginners but all sorts of folk come along.
will be November, friday evenings.
could be a good start for you, PM me if you like, I am also up for project suggestion of a cycle nature, had a guy make a work stand and I was thinking porter type rack could be doable. -

if only the spoor wallet was fat enough...
However, such things are not too hard to build, making some some Rietveld stuff at present which will save a few hundred on buying - still way more more than the usual Ikea dross though : )

Hi Socktoy,
joints will be fine, I have used Armourtex to powder-coat some of my sculpture with good results, I wouldn't worry about any welding methods at all. Last piece of artwork had silver soldered joints that's 600's - 650C range, brazed (bronze/brass rods) that's your high 800's to 900's Centigrade range and arc welded joints (not that you would do that on a bike!)
Their grit blasting seems pretty safe, what I did learn was that getting an oven burn-off before powdercoat can really help clean off any greases, oils etc.. which was really worth the effort preventing finish problems.
Grit blasting comes in many flavours, a spectrum of aggression if you like, so enquire.
There are other firms who do a lot of bikes but you will pay more, so if it were a peach of a frame maybe Argos at the upper end or also try Windridge.
The only joining method that would fail with powder coat temperatures would be ordinary tin/lead solder which ranges in the 200's C, this would never be used to build a bike anyway.
Don't worry it will be safe, and it's probably just been an adhesion problem of the coating.
Cheers.
