All distances really, did the Eiger Ultra Trail 51k in the summer, the Snowdonia Marathon in October, I’ll do a spring marathon and then I’ve entered Race To The Stones 100k in the summer, then I’ll do another mountain marathon in late summer and then back to Snowdonia. Having a bit of a break until new year, so only running 40 ish miles a week, 3 spin classes and a Parkrun just to keep some speed in the legs at the moment.

Anyone else struggling to keep weight on ? I’ve been vegan for about a year now, it coincided with me coming back from a long term running injury, so I expected the weight loss at first. I’m eating loads, feel great, running the best times I’ve ever run at 48 years old but I am struggling to maintain my weight.
I’ve been to doctors been given a clean bill of health but my weight keeps creeping down, I’m eating like a pig but I’m starting to look like Mo Farah. I’m even starting to get tempted by those monster get fat shakes you buy at body building shops. To give you an idea, when I left school at 16 I was county xc champion and weighed 9.5 stone. Now I’m 8 stone 10 😱

Well my best VLM so far so got to be happy :) managed to hold sub 3 pace for 17 miles but knew I was going to blow spectacularly if I tried to maintain it so eased off. Got a fantastic stitch at mile 24 which almost stopped me in my tracks but it eased enough to let me enjoy the last mile and a half.
Finished in 3:06:12 which is a 7 minute pb so got to be happy, although I'm a little sad that Snowdon is no longer my marathon pb :D

New addition to the Jones household 4.5 month old whippet, we haven't had a puppy for 12 years so it's a bit of a shock to the system. A slight error of judgment getting him a week before London marathon but you live and learn.
Our 13 year old whippet wasn't that impressed when he first turned up but their best buddies already :)

Well another Snowdon done and dusted, felt terrible for the first half but got a bit better after that. A new marathon pb so I can't be too disappointed 3:13:36 so over a minute quicker than my previous pb. Mrs Jones had a tough time of it, 5 minutes slower than last year but winning her age category cheered her up :)
Think it's beer time now :)

Currently sitting in a B&B in Llanberis stuffing my face with fizzy pop and chocolate and getting more and more nervous about Snowdon Marathon tomorrow. At least we've got some proper wet and windy weather forecast.
I'm running well at the moment, so my cunning plan is to sit on the lead woman's shoulder, ensuring maximum TV exposure and the hope that she drags me along to a 3:10 ish finish :D

They've put our second xc league fixture the same weekend as Snowdon Marathon, I try and finish top ten overall in the series but that's out of the window if you miss one. I think we'll win the team title though :)
I know I keep going on about it :D but I'm absolutely smashing it in training :) ran 9 miles this morning quicker than my 1/2 marathon pb pace, it wasn't that far off my 10k pb pace. Not sure where it's come from but it's fun while it lasts.

Just looking at my splits from this morning again, I guess although I've had a crap year racing I have actually managed to get quite a few miles under my belt and it seems to be paying off :)
My 1/2 marathon race pace is about 6:40 m/mile pace but in training if I can run at 7:00 m/miles and throw in a last gasp 6:50 final mile that's a great fast training run for me.
This morning I ran 10 miles and 8 of them were 6:30 m/miles with other 2 6:40s. I don't think I've ever run a 6:30 mile in training and it was easy, I just hope I can keep it going another 3 weeks and have a good Snowdon :)

Just entered 'Race To The Kings' seeing as I hallucinated knights in shining armour during 'Race to the stones' it seemed strangely appropriate. Think I've got unfinished business with ultra marathons.
Snowdon Marathon in 4 weeks, had a great 18 mile trail run today so I'm hoping I'm coming into a bit of fitness just at the right time. Snowdon from last year is my marathon p.b, don't think I'll get near that but it would be nice to get close.

No not really, just made me laugh as ‘who ?’ does come up a lot in conversation. :D
