Sprint orienteering is great fun. I've never done the London race but I've run in Sheffield and Warwick. You do get a lot of funny looks though.
I'm training atm for the Welsh One Day Ultra Running Series (see www.mightcontainnuts.com) Managed 30miles yesterday on the Gower Peninsula without loosing any toe nails.

I got in 18 laps overall. The first 11 hours I was flying and did 11 laps including a meal stop. This was followed by a 2 hour epic night lap where I fell asleep whilst peddling up the climb.I restarted in the morning at 6am and managed 6 fast-ish laps before bonking completely with two hours to go and making it to the top of the final descent with 5mins left, needless to say the descent took me 5 and a half minutes at that was me done.
Was cool to meet emmeff - pity not to see you on course, would have been cool to have ridden a lap together (or together ish considering my incredbly slow speed at some points)

I was out on my road bike last week on the Gower and a woman was coming the other way down a really narrow lane towards me, though there was plenty of room she still decided to swerve into the roadside to 'avoid' me. The car smashed all over the road and I stopped to see if she was ok for my trouble I recieved an earfull of verbal and a 'citizens arrest' for dangerous driving. She started screaming and telling the gathering crowd that I had forced her off the road (absurd given that I weigh 170lbs on a carbon roadbike and she was in vauxhall zafira). Luckily the police arrived before the crowd of locals could tie me to the stake and light the fuse.
Needless to say the policeman told the woman she was a knob and I was allowed on my way.

A man in a suit stepped out in front of me without looking when I was walking to the shops today so I punched him in the head. Stuck it to the man. He probably was wearing his father's suit but it was definately new and expensive. I coul have avoided it but chose to make a point. I contemplated killing him but decided against it. Can you love me now?

Recently changed the crankset of my cross bike to a single ring affair removing the deraillier, big ring and shifter etc. replacing it with standard brake lever and bashgaurd and was after a Deda Dog's Fang or something similar for the inside - the shop I went into tried convincing me that I needed a Downhill Bashguard/chain keep device. When I (re)stated it was a cross bike they looked blank and replied "oh, we have carbon ones".
Thread derailments are pointless. I imagine all those who have such a strong opinion on it regularly act upon their morals and campaign appropriately (bike forums not included).
The rapid development of all technologies in the last hundred years is predominantly down to the defense industry so everyone sat in front of their computers or responding via their iphones owes it to WW2 codebreaker Alun Turing. Travelling abroad this summer? Frank Whittle of the RAF deserves some thanks. Phone in your pocket?Motorola developed the first Walkie Talkie and mobile telephone for the U.S. Military.
Equal opportunities? Post WW2 was massively improved on a variety of fronts due to responsibilities gained through war.
Do not confuse my argument. I am not condoning war or genocide or anything else. The defense industry will always exist and always receive more money than it deserves in comparison to health, education and pretty much everything else. Whilst it does this, the innovation of this industry allows for is invaluable. Furthermore, it is often the case that the industry is the platform for the development of technology that is simply too expensive for private investment.
I think that these are incredible (it is an aircraft)

Personally, I don't like the fashion thread. Or the one about trainers. That industry arguably does a lot a damage to the world too.
