Having come back to this thread I realised I missed your question ages ago about the Tiger. I'm afraid I don't have any experience vs the F800 but I did take an F750 for a test ride and the Tiger was, for me, the clear winner. It felt more powerful and stable (with much less vibration) at high speeds, comfortable too, essential for me as I've used it for a huge amount of motorway riding across Europe. I am by no means an expert or particularly experienced so I really just went with what 'felt' best for me too rather than weighing up pros and cons too much. I think fuel economy is better on the BMW though. Hit up local dealerships for some test rides and see what you think!
Looks like there will be updated versions of the Tiger and F800 pretty soon too.

Close - taking the ferry from Ancona to Patras, then spending some time in the Peloponnese. May well make the return trip through the Balkans depending on time though! Going well so far - leisurely couple of days getting to Switzerland and now planning some fun rides here with no luggage on the back :)

Fort track 54cm w Phil Wood, Sugino 75, Chris King etc //// Dolan Mythos carbon fibre road bike 52cm
2 beautiful bikes for sale, available for collection in Ewell (Surrey - half an hour from Waterloo on the train) or can meet somewhere reasonable. PM me for questions, more photos etc.
Fort track frame, Phil Wood x Velocity wheelset, Sugino 75 etc etc - £550
Frame is 54cm c-t-c top tube and 53cm c-t-c seat tube.
Lovingly built up by me and rode around London's famous London for a bit before I moved overseas. Owing to being stored in a garage for a few years and hardly ever used the hubs and spokes are not exactly sparkling and there appears to be some minimal rust here and there on e.g. chainset bolt. But nothing major. Wheels are still true and solid but tyres will need replacing due to age. Will consider splitting for parts but would rather sell complete (makes life much easier...)
Parts are:
Alu Fort track frame, strong as hell. Original Fort decals included if you ever decide to get it repainted.
Wheel set (Phil Wood double fixed x Velocity) with Phil Wood sprocket
Thomson straight stem and collar
Thomson seat post and San Marco Ponza saddle (can swap for a Flite or Charge Spoon)
Sugino 75 chainset, Campag BB
Fort frame + carbon forks (original steel forks included)
Deity risers and Oury grips
Shimano 105 front brake with goldfinger lever
Chris King headset
Time ATAC pedals - bit rusty in places thoughDolan Mythos Carbon Fibre road bike - £500
Frame size is 52cm c-t-t seat tube and 56.5 effective (i.e. along horizontal) top tube.
Didn't really use this much so it's looking pretty mint considering it's over 5 years old. I upgraded the brakes to the awesome Planet X CNC calipers, and will throw in spare Swisstop pads and the Cateye computer (needs new battery). Full Shimano 105 groupset in black, obvs. Carbon fibre bottle holders too. Mavic Aksium wheels, San Marco Ponza saddle, carbon seatpost etc.

Although a bit blingy/upmarket-hotel like in terms of some of the interior decor, I still like the look of this place, and it's local! Interesting situation on a slowly-eroding cliff here in Dakar...I dread to think how many cleaners are needed to keep the windows dust and salt-free.

I think that film was way over-hyped. The boy who played Hugo was pretty wooden, and Sacha Baron Cohen's acting was pretty dreadful too. In many ways it felt like a not very good attempt to emulate Jean-Pierre Jeunet's style. In fact, thinking about it, if Jeunet had directed this with a French cast (i.e. avoiding setting a film in Paris but employing an all-English/American cast, where everyone speaks with an English or really terrible French accent) it probably would have been quite good. Sir Ben on good form as usual though, even though it looked like he just dialled it in. Hum.
Watched Hugo last night, which was perfect for my mood and provided excellent entertainment. Made me think more of Terry Gilliam than Martin Scorsese. Would like to watch something similar tonight.

UPDATED
Had these bits and pieces lying around for a while, so time for them to go! Can meet somewhere central to deliver or post at cost. Or you can collect from Wandsworth (SW18). PMs only please!
Shimano 105 chainset (Compact - 50/34) - £40
Hardly used as I swapped it out for a blingier chain set fairly quickly. It's the 2009/2010 model.
Thomson 'stubby' 50mm stem ( 1 1/8, 25.4) - missing steerer clamp - £20
Excellent condition but I have totally lost the steerer clamp - these can be bought for around £12.99 making total cost to you of £33, which seems reasonable.
Vittoria Zaffiro - FREE (just pay for post if necessary)
It's free, it works.

Clear-out of random stuff continues...
I have a relatively old but excellent condition (and barely used for the last few years!) PC, which I built back in 2008 I think. It's a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB of ram, I think there's a good 300GB or so of hard disk space and I can include a copy of Windows XP Media Center Edition too. I may even be able to throw in a wireless keyboard and mouse. All a bit dated really but it runs brilliantly and would work fine as a PC for basic needs (although it still runs programs like Photoshop fine), server, media PC etc etc. It's also all in a pretty small case (see pic) with blue LED fan controls. Wooo! £100 - collection from Wandsworth only though!
I also have a Pioneer CDJ 100 that's surplus to requirements - excellent condition, bit of light wear and tear but these things last forever. Great basic CDJ, £75, can drop this off within reason. Looks like this (not my photo):
PMs only please. And sorry, I can't post anything!
Cheers

** ----------------- SOLD ----------------- **
Lovely ladies' Dutch style bicycle for sale, with summer on the way this would make an excellent present for any wife/girlfriend etc. My wife has enjoyed ambling round London on this but we're moving away and it's too heavy to ship! Yes, it's a Dutch bike, so it is a bit heavy, and you probably won't want to carry it up 5 flights of stairs, but you knew that anyway.
It's made by the 'Dutchie' company, so check out this link for more details and specs: http://www.dutchie.co.uk/bike-dutch-chic-3-speed.html
They sell them for £315 these days, I'm selling this one for £150.
Some of the main features (and things to be aware of) are:
3-speed Sturmey Archer
Built like a brick shithouse
Step-through frame
Amazing custom bright pink oury grips
Comfy saddle
Awesome black wire basket included for free
Kick-stand
Full mudguards
Dynamo lights front and rear, although the wiring is a bit dodgy but could be easily fixed. I'll throw in some knogs
Rear rack, although this is slightly dented from use
Fits pretty much all ladies, apart from massive giant ladies (my wife is 5'8" and it fits her very well, btw)Happy for anyone interested to check it out, if you're willing to visit Wandsworth. Buyers can either pick up or I'll cycle it to them, provided you don't live too far away.

I got a Tiger 800 for almost exactly the same reasons as you...rode it up and down to Greece this year, through Italy, all over south and west Switzerland, France, etc etc, and put loads of miles on it in the UK too. Triple engine not for everyone but I love it. Very worthy for consideration! And a 2nd hand model less than 2 years old is easily within your budget, especially as new models just released.
