I've ordered replacement bolts after having one of the end knobs falling off but same experience as Ironman1104 with extortionate freight costs more than doubling the price of the item
Oddly, it wasn't a case of Paul ripping me off with the freight costs; it was clear from the packaging that I had been charged what they had paid to send it. I just didn't need it to be sent by a despatch service of a speed and quality best suited to the delivery of still-warm vital organs needed for transplant.

So I have a question.
I have these on the geekhouse, and after being hit by the car, the screws are FUBAR.
how do i get my wheel out- its at proper tension.also I'm going to have to cut them off, anyone know if i can get replacement screws?
I got a replacement knurled knob by emailing Paul, so doubtless you can get the bolts too.
Beware, though. I was charged a perfectly acceptable nominal amount for the knob (literally about $1), but the daft girl despatched it by some hugely expensive express airfreight arrangement which cost another $25. I would have been perfectly happy to wait a fortnight.

"seam"?
hmm. new one on me.
do you really think the forum is that bad?
I reckon it's a bit more like real life, you can't have that the way you want it all the time.
I mean, I don't like bike polo or football, or salmon, or half the users on here, or red. but I don't let it bother me, it's a free country.
Depends what you mean by "that bad". A lot of people post stuff which is interesting or amusing, or both. And a small number of people, of whom our earlier correspondent is one, are just vulgar and offensive for the sake of it. Paucity of language, I suppose. As one's primary school teacher might have said (but didn't), it's not funny and it's not clever.
And even in real life, few of us use offensive language to strangers in public just for the sake of it. Even to strangers who are interested in cycling.

no, i used a condom, got to to play it safe when you don't know where the bitch has been
did you get metal burrs in your cock?
I'd rather not have observations like these on a forum about FGSS stuff, whether in a thread about fitting a Phil bottom bracket or anything else. Why don't you keep them to yourselves?

Im plannin on cycling from london to Hemsby in Norfolk (Great Yarmoth). Going on google maps and clicking 'avoid highways' tells me that its around 140 miles. I was hoping to do it in a day (gettin up eeearly). recon its possible fixed? dont think the routes too hilly and i like to think im pretty fit, ride every day around 8-10 miles, but it will be my first real trek. will it happen?
I did London to Wells-next-the-Sea (about 140 miles) with gears a couple of years ago and then came back the next day. It was OK, though I was ready for my tea at the end. The flatness was what made the difference. Wouldn't much fancy doing it fixed, though.

Too slow
Let me have a long careful think for a moment ...
Nope, having thought carefully, I don't think I have ever heard a more ballsaching way of proceeding than to swap the chain on a chainwhip back and forth depending on whether it is a 3/32 or 1/4 cog.
Do you use just the one set of spokes for all your bikes as well?

Anyone know how to reassemble the springs in a Shimano SPD? I think the model is 858. It fell apart in use. I have all the bits, and know what goes where, but the difficult bit is getting the springs back in tension.
The effect of the fall-apart was the same as I would have achieved if I had backed off the tension adjuster bolt until it fell out, and then replaced it (but I was not so stupid as to do that).
There must be a technique, or tool, for this or the things would never be assembled in the first place.
Clues, anyone?

Depends if you mean what Phil Wood calls "road", which have an alloy axle. The "touring" hubs, superficially similar, have a s/steel axle. I have touring hubs on my - er - tourer and they seem maintenance free and indestructible, like the high flange track ones, which I also have. Haven't got any alloy axles.
Halfords sell them, but they're very expensive. I'm sure you could get them cheaper elsewhere if you only knew where to look. I get the occasional free one from gas stations when I purchase fuel oil (not petrol; they don't put them near petrol pumps).
