Thanks rustynuts! That looks more economical... have you used these before? Looking at the ET515 it mentions suitable for applications which are subject to vibrations and shock, which sounds like a bike frame. The ET500 claims the strongest bond, but goes off in 5 minutes which may be too quick to apply. Any thoughts?

I had a little chat with the guys at BLB, who reckon you won't get much change from £300 for having the resin fixing done professionally. For all the kit (applicators) and 50mm of DP490 I'm looking at £100 and no guarantee that it will work, which is not much less than I paid for the frame!
Seems such a shame, but it looks like I might be in the market for a new frame...

So...
I finally completed my first road bike build, which I've made a lot of mistakes on and learned a lot - a Specialized Epic Allez early 90s lugged carbon frame. I had been tweaking and testing it before taking it out for a full day, and felt a bump and a wobble. Rode gently home and discovered that the chainstays had pulled right off their lugs at the BB! They had been pressed back against the BB by compression forces and the rear derailleur cable and were wedged against the BB, off their lugs.
I think the failure may have been caused by my fitting a 130mm wheel into the 126mm dropouts, putting some force on those joints.
Unfortunately I didn't photograph the original failure and have since been able to prise them away and back onto their lugs. I will take a picture of the affected area tonight.
The question: Has anyone ever had any luck repairing carbon/alu bonds, or is it wall art? Thanks for any input.

Hi HoKe, I'm interested in your frame, to replace this project which went so sadly awry (http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/251705/#comment10216058)
I'll PM.
