I think they're pretty robust. I tried to remove one from our front garden to put it in a pot and managed to snap it with very few roots remaining. It's doing just fine and I left the remainder which is also doing just fine too.
Difficult to train into anything tidy though.

I'd love to but I will be back from the US a few hours too late. Also haven't seen Mrs H for 2 weeks so going straight out for a day on the bike would probably not be well received.

Filled a bag with leaves today - let's see if the leaf mold people are right, will check in a year or two to see what it's done.

I think the 100x200 softwood ones we have have lasted over 5 years. I painted them with creocote, sat them on compacted type 1 and didn't use any kind of liner to keep them from soil contact. They're just about starting to show signs of mild rot but I reckon they should live to about 10.

They're pretty much done now - those photos were a few weeks ago. Harvested the last of them last weekend and took the plants out. We hadn't been opening the doors so it got a bit damp and things started to get mouldy/blight.

Yeah I've got a larger pot with an acer in it which could probably do with going up a size and the albizia in the background is lusting after the sichuan pepper's pot so a repotting party is on the cards once I've found one I like.
