Eddie. Most likely planning on leaving New Years Eve (Thurs) and coming back on 3rd Jan (Sunday) or possibly Monday depending on what people want to do? As far as cost goes, I guess we'd split the ferry crossing equally and accommodation is up to you but rooms in the hotel in Haarlem are approx 300 euros for the 3 nights for a twin/double room (about £150 each). I reckon it'd cost you about £200-£250 for ferry and accommodation plus money for food and beer etc... Will.

Any takers for this trip? I have just checked Stena Line ferries to the hook of Holland. We can get car with bikes over inc 5 people for £149 approx. Could take 2 vehicles? The hotel in Haarlem also has more space available too (enough for 8 at the moment). Perhaps the interested parties could meet for a beer somewhere with wireless internet and we could book everything when everyone is present and get it all ORGANISED? Let me know.

I have looked into this travel and accomodation wise... Assuming we leave on Dec 31st am. www.eurotunnel.com has space for a car with bikes on the roof. £141 return. The tricky bit is the return, they only have return travel available on the Sunday the 3rd if we travel before 10am so we'd have to be up and left by 5.30am to get back to Calais on time.
Accomodation for the 31st to the 3rd is available at www.Hotels.nl/Haarlem/JoopsHotel/.
Cost would be approx £110 euros each for the duration. They have two double rooms left at present. (Lee would have to share with me!!)We need to move fast if we are going to book this.
Word.

Easy Chaps! I think that Jamie was making a valid point. Our numbers have dwindled in recent months with people dissapearing to Uni and the like. If we do not involve other new players, we will end up playing polo with about 6 people which would be rather boring. Once you know another players style, it's no real challenge to play against them. New players however, once familiar with the game are much more of a challenge because they develop their own unique tactics making things much more interesting. I find playing in London quite exciting because I don't know anyone or their areas of polo expertise so it's much more of a challenge to play them. Anyway, I don't think that a major advertising campaign is in order but perhaps encouraging some 'friends' or aquaintances to play might be a good plan. I have a couple of older (late forties, early fifties) friends who are keen to come and have a go. I reckon they could be a force to be reckoned with once they know the game! Anyway, how about stop being negative and get some of your friends involved. Some people only need a little encouragement and then become hooked. I seem to remember that Jamie has been giving a lift to one new player who lives near him and he seems to be very keen. I think it is things like that that will bring new people to the game in a more subtle way than advertising in a newspaper or at a freshers fair. You would doubtless gain lots of dick heads that way but a more subtle approach might bring some likeminded and decent players out of the woodwork. Love from Will XXX

Can't believe how bitchy this forum is becoming. Just a simple attempt by someone to get their stolen bike back has turned into an 'I've been in Cambridge longer than you have' battle. WTF. Just get over youself and let the man get on with his search for his stolen bike. If anyone on here can help, I'm sure they will. Good Luck Askeni .

Good work indeed. Just to wanted to add that I think some people may have difficulty in honouring their commitment to the League games if they are played on Tuesday nights due to work/study etc. I am pretty flexible but (for example) I am told that Ozram works on Tuesday evenings. I suggest that we play the League games first on Sundays from 10 or 11am then progress to 'throw in' games after the League games have been played out. I think that more people would be available to play on Sundays... Would that suit everyone better or not? Will.

My opinion is that the 48 hr rule and 5 post hurdle is a small price to pay for the use of such a comprehensive 'fixed wheel dictionary' as this site proves to be. I think that anyone who complains about it is probably going to be a pain in the arse? I applaude the people whose effort and time goes into this making and running of this website. Thankyou :)

It's amazing how much 'never fitted' or NOS parts are actually about hidden away on peoples dusty shelves. I worked for a lightweight bike shop in Cambridge back in the early nineties called Taurus Cycles. Looking back, there used to be loads of interesting NOS parts in their back storeroom that were never sold and no one was interested in them. If only they were still there!
