Hi, this is not yet a running project but I bought this a while ago and only recently got it back to my house to start thinking about how to build it up - loads of ppl on here have pics of nice bjs and opinions on them.. thought I might tap in as I have built 1 bike up before with help from my lbs and it was a gaint fail. My current fixed is a bianchi bodged to something better which I like.
But with this, I'm after a light/day tourer that I can go weekend camping with (rack, guards, comfort etc). Not sure if I want a low fixed gear or actual gears. I love fixed but I have my day to day fixed bike for kicks already.
If I get round to drumming up the will and some fitness I plan to cycle to the Med next summer on it...hard but not averse to doing that fixed with a 60 inch gear and a free side.A friend said a classic 5 speed build. sounded cool but a good quality indexed set up probably don't exist (?).
another mate said all modern or all classic. so was thinking 105 it up.Now I'm thinking hub gears...
Also, will a quill stem fit over these new fangled ergo/comfy bend bars?
replies on a postcard

I have a 16t 3/32nds cog that came with my pista that I would like to swap for a 19t.
used for a month or so and not fussed about a brand new but will consider a straight buy if you have one.could also do with a lockring that isn't made of cheese a la System Ex and Bianchi!
Following a tip from a request like mine, I had a look at planet X, seems like they have 1 sort of 3/32 19t and it looks all funky. anyone tried/tested em? http://www.planet-x-warehouse.co.uk/acatalog/SKOOSSGA.jpg

I was wondering about Cav's chances for points today too. I'm not mega fanatical of the whinging manc but why are the media pundits all writing off the intermediate sprints?
Fair enough cycling, traditional, champagne etc but it's a race that ends in Paris, not Mont Ventoux. I'd be trying to get that green jersey if I had a chance if I were in Cav's shoes. Not that Thor's team would make it easy but I bet it's possible if you through "etiquette" out of the window.
Stupid frog race! ;) -

*This is london, my friend.
Spokes are 80p for a nice dt swiss double butted, in silver. HTFU.*
I've been riding in LONDON (oh so rough and tough) for years and never crashed into anyone else.
Or do you mean in London people ride noticeably worse than other places? ;)[/quote]
I've not ridden in London, but is it that gangsta? I can't say it's all roses on the roads in Yorkshire. Why the big man attitude for London? - is it that bad?
To be fair I have just spent an hour reading accounts of you guys getting run off the road but it has happened elsewhere too I'm sure. -

Hi, hope this is not out of order, but I thought I'd mention that I have a 1/8" chain for those on 2nds and 3rds.
SRAM PC-7X singlespeed chain 1/8". Nickel plated with a chain connector link. Used (not by me) but good looking. 94 links only sadly.

pedals to Jim. Yes they are fine to use. I'd have to ask catboy if he needs the 11t cog. You see it's on the end of the spacers and usable cog to make sure the shimano lockring stays on! Without it, there is the risk that the lockring slips over the spacer rings.
Sorry about that JamesMac. It does get frenzied on the classifieds don't it!
