Back briefly to comment on this, even though gender-related threads bring me out in hives.
Yes, I think there should be a women's sub-forum. Because it's nice to be in a majority for once (men often find this difficult to understand - I guess the best analogy would be to point out that in the real world, cyclists are usually a minority). It'd be nice to join in with conversations without everyone either assuming you're a man, or knowing you're a woman and making other assumptions based on that. And without any contribution you make being read as a woman's opinion, rather than just a person's opinion. Although it shouldn't be the case, in some single-sex environments, gender ceases to be so much of an issue. (This is a regular argument for segregated schools, where apparently girls do much better at traditionally 'male' subjects, etc.)
And I'd like there to be more women's events - simply because I spend my working life surrounded by men, and although I enjoy it 90% of the time, a change is as good as a rest. Again, it would be reassuring and refreshing to turn up for a ride knowing you wouldn't be part of a very conspicuous minority.
It's not all about nice easily-paced rides and asking stupid questions. I'm not slow or stupid. I'd like to meet more girls I can race up hills and talk bike-geek with. At the same time, it would potentially be a much better environment for newbies. Four years ago I barely knew one end of a bike from another, and if it weren't for some very inspiring and supportive women, I'd probably still be commuting on a £99 hybrid from the Argos catalogue.
And yes, it would be nice to have somewhere to discuss period pains, and the whole shaving/waxing/depilating issue, without people going 'eeeeewwwww!', or making stupid jokes.
And yes, to be very clear about this, I left this forum because of the sexism. (Though I've got a lot out of it in the past, including lots of very good friends, and I'm grateful for that.)

I bought them three days ago, and realized almost immediately that I need to go down a size - but not soon enough to be able to exchange them.
So they're basically brand new (though getting less so with every day that passes), and I'm hoping to get not-too-much-less-than-the-selling-price for them, so that I can go straight back and buy the next size down. Let's say £250. And I'll deliver them anywhere in London.
(NB. Even if you're not normally a size 43, I'd give them a try, because the sizing seems a bit unusual. My old SIDI Dominators were 43, and they fit me perfectly.)

This isn't so much a personal plea for recognition as just a heads-up about something that Moving Target and the LCEF have cooked up this Thursday. (I've done a cursory search; I don't think it's been mentioned yet. Stone me if it has.)
At the moment it's looking like it'll mostly be generous exengers and bike shop people doing the appreciation - so if anyone fancies buying a pint for their friendly neighbourhood cycle courier (or, y'know, giving them coffee or cake, or a compliment, or a pat on the back, or an alternative career...) now would be the time to do it.
Here's a link with a bit more info.
Edit: oh yes, and it's this Thursday.

Just for the record, Crank Bros Candy pedals are totally shit. I recently wore through the cleats in three weeks, and one of the pedals died the week after. (And I'm pissed off because the shop wouldn't bow to my whims and swap them for Atacs. Not mentioning which shop, as it wasn't really their fault. But oh, isn't crap kit annoying?)

Chap walked past me on Grosvenor Street yesterday (I was on standby, with the papers), and remarked 'nice bike - really nice bike'. I'm flattered sir, but if you're really that impressed by my filthy, battered, worn-out old 2004 Condor Pista, then I think you need to spend more time on Gray's Inn Road.

Beautiful Salsa Casseroll road bike. 53cm (though Salsa claim it's 49cm, weirdly). Shimano 105 groupset. Triple (30-50/12-25). Cane Creek S-3 headset.
Wonderful ride, suitable for commuting, club rides, randonnees and touring (though perhaps not up to a RTW trip involving the Himalayas, which is why I'm reluctantly selling it). Also suitable for fixed/SS conversion, if that's your bag.
One careful lady owner. Yes, I've couriered on it, but not to excess. It's mostly been sitting in the living room being admired. It's had several full services from Brixton Cycles (where I bought it; full documentation available), and has only done about 200 (non-courier) miles since it was last in the shop.
It's had two new wheels fairly recently - with a Rigida Grizzy rim on the front and a DT Swiss TK 7.1d on the back (Shimano Tiagra hubs), and is generally in very good nick.
I spent £1,500 on it just over a year ago, so I'd like to get at least £1,000 for it. I can probably throw in saddle, pedals, rack, and other odds and ends I have lying around too, if you fancy.
It's a gorgeous bike. I'll be sad to see it go.
