I tried power grips a year or so ago and they are a nice design to fit your shoe into, but mine also snapped when pulling (an emergency) skid. They're not really made for that sort of dramatic tug, so I'd steer well clear (I looked like a right cunt falling off my bike). Just get some double straps on your lead foot.

...Convincing my flatmate about some horrible news. I feel a little bad now, actually.

There was someone in my school called Willy Leeks, and another called Ryan Maiden. One of the foreign students was called Gbemmi Obamai which soon became Gbendy Obumgay. One of the teachers was Mr. Hadcock, who also had a son at the school.
This is the best thing anyone has ever written on this forum.

Hello, cycling chums,
A writing class I've been involved with for a while now is headed up by this insanely industrious guy that has produced an anthology of work centred on the bookshop he runs down Brick Lane (You should all know it, it's called Eastside Books). It's a good, independent shop and the work in the anthology (that I've read) is excellent. I also happen to have a short story in there called Derek's Throne.
There will be another, smarter version of this book coming out next year (with amazing artwork done by my talented little sister of Pearl Fisher fame). But to ensure we get that far we need to sell as many versions of this first edition...so I'm plugging this far and wide...It's a real labour of love and no one is making any money from this. We're just consolidating our work and interests.
The foreword is by the excellent Russ Willey (an amusing London Historian) and you can read what he says about the work under the 'preview' option under the main image in the link below.
Buy it here for a fiver: http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/the-bookshop-in-brick-lane/7852030
And also availble in the book shop.
Cheers,
D.
A mate of mine is moving to the US next week and put his bike up on ebay at the last minute. It's a very decent build but he's a tad anxious he'll have to let it go for way less than he was hoping for. Anyway, take a look if you're after a nice complete bike. I reckon he'd have been better of splitting it up
