Cheers for that, I've spent some time in Perth, but never taken a bike. It's certainly car orientated, I'll do my bit to remind them that cyclists have some fight ;-)
Freyo seems to have some cyclists, as does town (couriers mainly), looking forward to riding! and thanks for the Speed Dome recommendation.

Folks, I'm off to Perth tomorrow, and in a slight panic about how clean to get my bike.
I've taken everything off and scrubbed it, but it being an 1980's bike it had some wear and tare, mainly being dark scratches on a light paintwork. I know they're mainly looking for earth and plant matter, so I'm hoping oil and grease don't cause me any grief.
Do I risk being refused entry with it? If anyone has experience of flying with a bike into Australia, please let me know.
Cheers.

Guys, it's been a week and a bit now, so i've borrowed a turbotrainer. But the forks are fucked:

So i've propped the front up by the bars on the back of an old armchair, is this a safe way to support the front of the bike?

I've got other bikes but none with skewers, and no spare forks (not that i want to do any mechanics with a sling.
Sorry about the large photos, why phones think megapixels of such poor quality is better than less with decent quality is beyond me.

Thanks for the links Josh, I'll take a look. I think I need a 54cm from trying a Caad8, which is odd as I'm almost 6ft.
Hugo, thanks for the recommendation, some of the good deals online are what was tempting me to buy new, especially when the right size doesn't come up on ebay.
And Dammit, the carbon six's are great, i'd like to try one. I kind of like the idea of going for Al, as i'll just want more carbon if I go that route. I can't replace all my bikes ;-)

That's very true, I suppose the only things to watch out for are badly trued wheels, crash damage etc. But then you always run that risk.
I'll look into some of the older ones, the CAAD's don't seem to come up so often, but i'm in no particular rush. I could always spend some extra on some nice wheels.

The CAAD10 seems to be a great buy for a new roadbike. With top end Al frame and decent group options. I'm just wondering whether for £1200 or so whether i'd be best looking at second hand options on ebay, where I could save money or get something better for a similar price.
I'm not really that familiar with newish bikes off ebay or otherwise, and I was wondering what others had done when it came to buying? I'm a fan of the older BMC's (not just thanks to Cadel). Especially the Al/C ones out a couple of years back, and the newer ones such as:
Any ideas? Is best to go for new and pay the premium.
Cheers.

Get some new tires, and tell them you've left it boxed in China, should be fine. Got myself a cannondale Caad9 to complement the track bike. So nice having some bikes here this time!
