Can anyone explain this comet image on the Guardian? Surely there’s no way it can appear as a dark shadow like this? https://www.theguardian.com/science/2024/oct/11/comet-a3-last-seen-in-neanderthal-times-could-be-sighted-from-uk-this-weekend#img-1

Thanks for the nice comments! It is indeed larch cladding from Scottishwood (I’m in Edinburgh), so hopefully minimal maintenance. It’s been about £3.5k so far, wood is expensive :( it’s loosely based on Colin Furze’s how to build a solid shed but I did the design myself in CAD. It’s been fun trying some new things (bricklaying, installing UPVC).. will post updates as I do the internals!

Pepper didn’t come in as usual last night, still not back this morning. Have had a couple of incidents of other cats coming into the house, eating her food, we were just about to sort the microchip cat flap.. also seems like a cat sprayed a little indoors yesterday. Anyway hoping it’s some kind of territorial issue which is in the process of being resolved and she will be back soon, but this is the longest she’s been away so somewhat anxious! We’re in North Edinburgh in case anyone else is based that way!

I think we’ll be hearing a lot more of these quotes as time goes by:
“The civil protection minister, Nello Musumeci, said: “Climate change is not just a contingency and Italy must realise that it now has a tropical climate.
“On one hand, we are paying the price of climate change, for which we should have paid more attention several years ago, and, on the other, of infrastructure that does not seem to be totally adequate for the new context.”

Any advice for this? Dropping its leaves and generally looking very unhappy. Thought maybe we’d overwatered as it stayed damp for a while when we stopped, soil still doesn’t feel totally dry. It has some new leaves but they haven’t got any bigger in months. House can get quite cold, could it be that?
