I'm running 73" brakeless for now, seems pretty good, have to be pretty restrained downhill but i haven't had an opportunity as of yet to spin down anything anyway.
Puts my 65" with 2 brakes to shame really. I keep thinking of upping the gear, but after a long-ish ride on it, going up the big-ish hill to get home i have to honk up.

The oneon the brown never says hello either, or the one that goes up Porchester road that i have seen a few times.
One London one, a guy in Freewheel owns that one, i stood and laughed at that Wheelie Big Breakfast thing, they had it right at the front of the stand.
Theres a guy on a Brown Langster that lives in Lowdham, rides into Nottingham, that might be the lecturer person maybe? -
Keep an eye out for me, seen the Langster a few times, if its the guy i think he never waves or anything, even when i'm riding my fixed.
Keep an eye out for me, hard to miss.
I did see someone on an old fixed today, lightish blue with full guards on going up Porchester road, red back wheel. Anyone on here? -
-
OH MAN i'm from notts and when i go to visit me mam i always take me fixie and yes those hills are a pain the the arse but i was thinking about asking if there was any riders up there because there bloody should be fixie riders everywhere....
what bike you riding bozo??What hills? I just see long slopes of fun(pain).

I think they ride geared road bikes.
Buts that just going by the women(not sure who, i think she was near pro or pro) was on the TV a while back that had got taken off her bike, then dragged along behind the car on her way to the track to train. Cant remember if she is still on the track. Anyone else remember seeing this? It was on some TV show. -
Here is me and the Giant here.
Heres the fixed which is what i'm on the most at the moment.

Ah, thats why i dont see many then. Closest i get to the city centre is West Bridgeford. Should really go in there more and keep my eyes open.
You can do routes where there are no real hills. Cavendish road i have to honk up, most of the others i can just keep going up. But then i'm probably geared lower. -

Yup, I'm here on a fixed black Kalkhoff, few friends about... Seb on a powder blue Sun jobby, Alistair on a pink with aerospoke and a nice Orange Viner. Some OTP's around too, there has been word of getting some rides together, watch this space.
Oh and fixed all the way, no problems with hills to speak of, always routes around if you don't need quickest route to town.
Where are you all then? I'm over in Carlton, and ride mostly on the east side near Lowdham.
I'll keep an eye out for you all, and an eye out if theres going to be a meet up. -

Hello. I'm here, yellow fixed. Keep an eye out for me. Also on a Giant SCR4.Go out in Sherwood CC kit, very hard to miss.
Guy on a bown Langster lives over in Lowdham, goes into th centre alot. Not spoke to him, just seen him as i've been riding.Another guy, not seen him for a while, on an old yellow fixed, name is also Joe, from America. Theres another guy on a Langster i think, dunno if its fixed or singlespeed, see him sometimes.
Hilly, no, its not bad. But the hills are normally short-ish and steep. I run 65GI and not had a hill i cant go up, yet. Bit hard down them sometimes, but still learning how to just let my legs spin fast. 65GI was also the gear most of the people that used to run fixed in club ran, or somewhere around the 65GI mark. Could go slightly bigger if you wanted. Wouldnt say much bigger though.
Over by the uni its flat, you can pretty much run by the side of the river for miles, and not go over a hill.
If your up for joining a local bike club and doing club rides, have a look at Sherwood, would be good to have someone else out on fixed sometimes. -
Yeh i get that. Took my fixed on a club ride and did 50/60miles on it. Went on a hilly route, a guy on a full carbon geared bike said to me "were going to some hills, your on a fixed i'll tell you what its like to change gear to make it easier"
I went past him and pretty much the rest of the group whilst going up the hills, was faster into a headwind aswell.
They werent laughing then.
I normally get people look at my bike as i ride past spinning, been asked if it was fixed before if they have caught up at traffic lights. Some think its strange that someone on an old 531 frame with one gear can come past them on a geared bike.
Love riding fixed, but when theres long downhills or a tailwind and i'm in a group thats on geared, its hard to keep up with them when they pick the speed up. -
I got it after doing 94miles in some very hot weather. That was down to lack of water, ran out and was a distance from somewhere i could get some more.
I read somewhere that eating salted nuts is good, and remembering to keep drinking is good.
Wasnt bad cramp i got though, it was just when i pulling my left leg up that it cramped up, but went when i pushed down. Cramped up more when i had got home though.
Add salt to your drink you take when on a long ride, that will help. Probably taste bad but i'm sure it will do you good. -
SJSC do them for their hubs. Will fit the System ex hub. The SJS hubs are pretty much the exact same hub, but with slightly cheaper stuff inside. My LBS had a system ex hub ready in a wheel, but the axel wasnt long enough and a longer one wasnt available. So i got the SJSC fixed hub and he jut put the axle straight in the System ex one.

The one SJSC does will fit a 130mm drop-out frame. It is pretty much the same one as the system ex but with a longer axle. You cannot buy replacement axles, my LBS orded one in as it was ment to be able to fit, butit wouldnt, and was told if there was a longer axle, then it would be on the distributers website, which it isnt.
SJSC hub is pretty much the same as the system ex one, but with no system ex sticker on it. Few other things different, doesnt come with those proper nuts with the spinny washers, just a normal nut with a serated edge on it. -
Out a post on the clycle clubs forum, some of those should be interested in having a go.
