Moved to copenhagen so I took my bike apart and shipped it over, I can't for the life of me find the goddamn Stem bolt though. Bought a crappy stem to tide me over for the time being.
Anyone have one kicking about for sale? Know where I can buy one in London? The trackbike shop over here doesn't have any and want to charge me a fortune for ordering one so bugger them.
I am in London 20-23 this month and can pick it up or go shopping then...
Adv(thanks)ance.

Oh ya, was defo going to pay up front £18.50 + £8 for my checkin bag but the most retarded thing about it is you have a TOTAL of 32kg to take on board. If my bike was 30kg, I could only check in 2kg with my other bag even though I have paid for both.
Other reports I have read on the web say it's just luck of the draw. Sometimes they will weigh it and sometimes they wont.
Argh I hate squeezy jet but they are cheap... I'm going to try and wing it and possibly do a honda when I get to the airport. I wonder if a pair of vans slip ons will double as ear muffs and a heavy jacket as a turban.

Has anyone had any experience flying out of London (specifically gatwick) with their bikes?
I found a box to pack my fixie in and I think I've done a reasonable job, trouble is it weighs 17kg. The rest of my crap weighs 20kg exactly so I'm wondering if I'll get stung for excess weight (apparently you get 12kg on top to make it 32kg all up). The flight is already expensive enough as it is. Wondering whether to leave some stuff with a mate to collect when I come through London next or whether to just wing it.
Are they pretty strict at Gatwick?

I'm interested but would need some pics etc. Given it's been out in the weather for a year the price would need to reflect that. Also what size is the frame? I would need it to be at least an 18"
Pics will be up by tonight for sure.
It's been weathered that's for sure (cunting estate rules) but with a cleanup and a proper service (forks, brakes etc) it will be a good bike.
I have no idea what size the frame is. I just remembered going to the bike shop and they picked out the best size for me. I'm 6'0"...

Well, i got my bike that I thought had been stolen back. turns out the estate where i live cut the lock and moved it into a huge pile of bikes outside because I forgot to put a tag on it. Nice. It's pretty old now and in reasonable shape although there's a bit of rust on the forks, brake discs etc since it's been outside for over a year!!!! (the little microdot thing is in my name so I can prove it's not a stolen bike).
I have no idea what it's worth!?
If you broke this bike down into bits and sold the components individually I'm sure it would net a tidy sum. Has hydraulic brakes etc. Aluminium frame so no rust on that.
Paid £800 for the bugger in '04.
I'm leaving the country next week so need it moved ASAP. Anyone want to take it off my hands for something reasonable? Any bits you want to trade it for?
Pics to come..

I love Minor Threat and Fugazi. Last time I went to a hardcore show I was stunned by the extent to which it seems to have become a fashion club. Even compared to '96-'01 (just before guitars became cool again) when I went to as many punk rock gigs as I could. Anyway, I'm far too into embarassing electro-ish tat and reggae these days to really care.
Having said that I'd love to be pointed in the direction of some good stuff where my lack of tattoos won't effect my credibility too much.
I remember seeing Fugazi in the early 90's. In the mosh pit there was a drunk moron being a little bit too aggressive in the pit so Ian stopped the show and warned the dude to take it easy. They started back up and sure enough the drunk dude acted up, swinging arms, kicking everyone. He stopped the show, pulled out an envelope out of his back pocket and said "here's your money back, get the fuck out!". Apparently he did that at a lot of shows.
These days, go to a hardcore show and you're guaranteed a broken nose if you go within 3 inches of the pit. Doesn't stop me going though. :)
About the tats, there's an old saying: the only difference between tattooed people and those without tattoos is that tattooed people don't care if you don't have them.
These bands have been taking up a lot of my listening time recently:

Yeah, Copenhagen's an ace city, well chilled and the fittest birds I have ever seen!
Lucky c*nt, you've got a Danish Mrs into tatts, and I'd say to some extent probably into bikes too? My dream Doris! :-)
Tell me about it. Rubber neck central.
Ya, she's cool man, so chilled out. She rides one of those long john bikes with the huge tray behind the front wheel, it's so rad seeing this tiny chick riding a huge bike. hehe.

Hars, what's your GF's name and where has she worked?
She owns/runs this shop in copenhagen:
http://www.myspace.com/brightsidetattoo
This is her work:
I spend most of my time in CPH and I'm moving over perm early next year, I fucking love this city.
EDIT: I have seen a few fixies on the road here. Can't wait to bring mine over. The bike paths are sooooo smooth and so quick. A dude rode one to the shop the other day for a consultation. He wanted to get a tattoo of a kryptonite D-lock with "good lock" written underneath instead of the horseshoe good luck tat. Such a sweet idea, why didn't I think of that!? :)

Just because I prefer not to have a full colour Navaho Chieftain over my shoulder blade or various Rockabilly iconography down both arms doesn't mean I can't appreciate the skill and artistry of a good tattooist.
There is no "artistry" involved in printing a few block characters out on a PC, stenciling them and keeping within the lines. I really wasn't dissing you when I said any street shop (walk-in shops in other words) will be able to do an awesome job on it, that's what they do day in day out. Obviously check out the portfolios first and see the quality of the work.
Hars, you and your girlfriend need to get off your high-fucking-horse.
I feel as though I have walked into Condor and asked for a single tracknut or something.Calm down, all I'm saying is that it's frustrating for artists to not actually use their ability to draw and do something custom which may have influenced his decision to turn it down. Luckily the GF is in a position to turn work like that down as she prefers to specialise in big custom pieces, no high horse at all. She has worked fucking hard to get where she is by drawing for hours and hours every day. You'll find a lot of tattooists do exactly the same and sometimes it can be frustrating to have this big nice portfolio that has taken YEARS to amass and then have someone flip through it and then ask for a Kanji.
Oh and one piece of advice, don't ever EVER get tattooed on the ribs. It fucking kills. :)

Yeah he passed me on.
I just wanted some simple block numerals around the ankles.
I guess my body isn't a canvas.
Oh well.My GF is a tattoo artist working in a custom only appointment based shop. It's essentially an insult to check out someones work which is big awesome colour pieces and then ask for "simple block numerals". She gets pissed when people email her with work like that and refers them to the street shops
Any street shop (like the ones in camden) will be able to do a sterling effort for something like that. Christ, even a 3yr old with a colouring in book could do it.
Maybe this dude is similar? Not dissing your choice of tattoo at all but just sayin'...

The Neil Armstrong watch? Isn't that a £5000 watch?
No, retails at £1500 and I haggled Mappin & Webb at T3 Heathrow down to £1250...
This is the watch:
http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=303&details=1&ref=35705000&no_cache=1
EDIT: One shit thing about having a nice watch? So damn expensive to fix. Omega insists all repairs get done at their factory in Switzerland. I was pissed up and play fighting with a mate, he rugby tackled me in the street and I went down. The next day I noticed the bezel was gone... £250 and 4 weeks later I get my watch back. Doh.

The best Sushi/Japanese place in London is Sakura on Hanover Street imo
Ace food and always full of Japanese people. Has all the usuals, live fish in tanks when you walk in, hustle and bustle of chefs on the left preparing...
Even has Japanese TV on the box!If anyone ever ventures south Tsunami in Clapham is LUSH too - head chef is some matey who used to work with Nobu in the first Park Lane restaurant
The place round the corner underneath the JAL building was on par with that place and much cheaper. Last time I went they were closed for refurbishment though, that was a couple months ago - just reminded me to go back and check it out. Hopefully they haven't raised prices!
Apparently the rastaurant was subsidised by JAL for all of the Japanese Tourists in London. They used to arrive by the busload to eat there.

I just moved from London to CPH a few months ago...
It's fucking expensive. If you have the option to get more expense money do it. Don't go to the tourist bars in the centre, you'll pay upwards of £6 a pint (50dkk). Vesterbro (red light district, seedy, rad) and Nørrebro are cheaper and much cooler areas to go drinking... If you're anything like me you'll burn through that 6500 pretty quick. I never know when to stop drinking and the bars here stay open until 5-6am. Then there's morning bars where you can continue. The Danes like a drink ;)
I'm heading back to Aus for 6 weeks shortly which is a shame, I could have shown you around a bit!
The track bike shop over here is pretty good, but as you would expect, expensive. The dude that runs it is a really cool guy tho.
Eat at home whenever possible...
Introduce yourself here and you'll meet some peeps to show you around: http://fixie-king.dk/forum/index.php
