Raced from 1974 to 78 - didn't trouble judges much but enjoyed it!
PBs ranged from 23:10 ten to 216 miles twelve (did that too young...)
Fifth in divisional road and track sprint championships as a Junior.
Punk rock and girls ruined any chance as a Senior.
Now fatter and slower but with lots of bikes I wish I had back then!
And a fantastic twelve year old daughter Florence who rides with Eastlands Velo at Manchester...
So all that old bike stuff I've got is for her right?

I hope somebody can help!
I am building up a track bike for my son.
Freddy is only 11 but quite struck with HHV and thoroughly enjoyed a VCL trip to the LV Velodrome.
The poor boy is stuck with a retro dad so it's a Bob Read with seventies Campag that's been gathering dust since I was about his age...
...but I've lost the lockring - standard sixties-seventies-eighties Campag pista hub. Doesn't matter if not Campag as long as it fits!
Thanks
Doug

I know I going to regret this one!
Really nice Ken Bird road frame...
Close clearances and tight geometry Ken Bird frames were known for - they were the business in the day!
531, Prugnat lugs with window cutouts, fastback seat stays with allen key seatbolt and Campag short horizontal dropouts.
Full brazings with cable guides on top of bottom bracket.
I sold this frame a while a go and the fellow returned the frame with some damage to the bottom bracket threads on one side - which was a bit odd given I had built it up, but I did the honourable thing and gave him his money back...
Have not got around tidying up the threads - but a threadless one seems to work very well!
Tange headset only included but all the parts are available...

Evening All
Why no picture? I can't get it to download! But there is a picture in my "my bikes" gallery...
And why Condor transfers? I had this bike painted (by Atlantic Boulevard) a while ago and the folks at Shorters really were not very helpful about transfers (I am sure they are good folks maybe it was just a bad day!) and I had not discovered Lloyds yet, and I had some period Condor transfers.
Seemed almost appropriate given there are pictures of Alf with two different frame builders names on the same bike - a Shorter from the front but a Alec Bird from the side!
Anyway it is a proper Shorter with a custom built frame number (AWI) rather that one of the dated frame numbers.
Top spec frame - drilled dropouts, brazed on brake pivot bolts, drilled lugs, full brazings etc, very short with lovely close clearances.
Unmarked paint and forks rechromed by the the London Chroming Company.
Various parts NOS but can't remember which for sure!
Super Record 57t single ring on proper Pista cranks
Steel Pista bracket
Super Record rear gear and down tube lever
Super Record headset
Super Record seatpost
Super Record brake levers
Steel Pista pedals (have others if you prefer...)
Cinelli 1R stem and 66 bars (have some lovely 3TTT Gimondi if preferred)
3TTT saddle (NOS for sure!)
Weinmann 500 brakes cut down as period - but more neatly then then!
Regina Oro chain and NOS Sun Tour 14-18 block.Wheels in picture are C Record on Wolber but I have a set of very very rare Record 28s with the high drive side low off side rear hub...
It really is a thing of beauty!
Looking for £800 - and I know I am going to regret this...

....and Ken Bird at his (brilliant) most bonkers!
