Hi - my bottom bracket is totally gone and in need of replacement but the spindles/threads on the cups are wrecked and so I am unable to extract it.
Its a nice mid 90's arthur caygill steell frame. Bottom bracket is campag.
Bought it a couple of years ago and it has served me very well but I'm kicking myself for not checking the bottom bracket at the time!
Does anyone have any recomendations for a reputable mechanic to try and extract the thing?
I'm based in Hackney
Apologies if there is already a thread that covers this - tried a few searches to no avail!
Thanks
Chris

Wotcher - I am after a complete ladies bike (geared) for my other half.
She is 5"6" and would prefer a step through frame but that is not essential.
I'm ideally looking for something with 531 tubing but to be honest I'll consider anything that would help her enjoy lengthy cycles into the countryside.
My budget is about £70 -£90 for a frame set or £200 for a complete bike
Can collect from the londonish area but do not have the time to travel much further afield at the moment so am happy to pay for postage.

I am after a 60 cm road bike - ideally audax, can afford about £350 - £400
Live in E9 and am getting fairly desperate as my fixed claud is in need of the doctor and would preferr to spend the money on a new set up.
On that note its a long shot but is there anyone here who might be willing to rent me their bike so i can cycle to oxford tomorrow? Can pay £50 and am happy to leave something sensible like a passport/driving licence??

Hi,
Know that this has probally been covered in great length somewhere else but havent managed to find an answer using the search thing.just bought a stronglight crankset, have a formula hub - have been lent a few old bb's from a friend of mine.
Read somewhere here that 107 is the right axl length - a 108 was visually too short and when I put on the chain, couldnt turn the cranks... not good.
tried a 111 yesterday and it still looked a bit too close but cycled (albeit with a brrrr rubbing noise) - so am going to try a 113 tonight so fingers crossed that works.
Fairly confident that it will work but how the hell do you work this out without trial and error?

grrrrr..... but do have to say that the luminous blue they are using does appear to be more effective at marking out the cycle lane..... the cable street route is particularly frought with mother pushing pram and dragging toddler straight into your path.
wonder whether the blue will stay luminous and whether it will be used on other cycle routes.... especially where the lane is curbside.... could help discourage a few cut ups?

thinking about doing this route without an overnight stop to raise some funds for mcmillan..... dont think doing it on my fixie is wise need to sort myself out with an audax..... but would maybe help with the fundraising side of things
23 hours sounds pretty damn quick..... how much training do you regularly do?
I've only just started to do regular 50mile + rides fixed wheel

A friend of mine who is 6"4/6"5 is in need of a complete to use as a commuter/pub bike/beater
Ideally with a free wheel / flip flop as he doesn't ride fixed yet.
Cheers
