Grateful for assistance
2011 white specialized roubaix in the Islington area (Culford Road) - it has a Shimano front wheel and a Ksyrium rear wheel - Dura ace cranks - fizik arione saddle and Thompson seatpost and stem.
Absolutely gutted.
They sawed through a streetsign to get it.
I was at Brick Lane this morning first thing but no luck.
If you see it, please let me know. I'll pay a reward. My number's 07872348199 and my email's jhwooding@hotmail.com.

People do rag their cars there though. I've seen people ignore the red lights there several times.
The police hadn't pulled someone over, so either they had hit him, or it had been a hit and run, or he'd been shot off his bike. The police didn't seem to be resuscitating him or doing anything whatsoever; he was lying down, and they were just milling about.
Hope he's OK.

I was hit by a courier van that was pulling out of my office loading bay just as I was turning into our car park. He was going too fast, on the wrong side of the narrow backstreet due to a parked car. I came round the blind left hand corner (not quickly), saw him hurtling at me head on, so steered right to try to cross in front of him. But he was going too fast and broadsided me, knocking me hard onto my right hand side. I fractured my arm just below my elbow. There were witnesses, whose details I didn't get. He got out, and had a go at me, and I told him I thought I'd broken my arm, and turned to speak to a witness, and he took the opportunity to jump back in the car and sped off. Unfortunately it happened right outside my office under 2 CCTV cameras in front of a security guard after he'd just delivered a package to my firm, so my office security identified him within 24 hours and I can't really say anymore.

Just saw, I think, a dead body at the junction of Shirland Road and Sutherland Avenue, near Warwick Avenue tube. There were two police cars, about five gawkers, no actual witnesses, and I was moved along as the ambulance arrived. The man was lying on his back deadly still with his eyes closed. No obvious injury, but he looked dead. His bike, a basic mountain bike taped up in red, was about 7 feet or so away from him.
Has anyone heard anything?

Large (I'm 6') 2002 Specialized Enduro with 4"-5" adjustable travel, includes:
- A1 alloy frame with Horst link
- the new, beefier strut
- rock guard for shock (looks really moto)
- Fox Float R shock (replaced in 2007; regularly serviced by Tim Flooks at TFTuned)
- Marzocchi MXR air forks
- Deore hydraulic discs
- new Panaracer Fire XC tyres
- Mavic wheels, Deore/LX/XT groupset
This bike rides really nicely, it's good for climbing and descending, a great all-round bike. You could even race it cross country if you wanted to, at an introductory level. It's surprisingly light - much lighter than the beefy looks would suggest.
I rode it mainly on the road a few times a week at uni, and since then (2006) I've only ridden it off-road in the Surrey hills about 10 times a year. That said, I've had it serviced and parts replaced as necessary. So it's in good condition, bar a few scuff marks. In total the bike has only been ridden off road about 40 times, I would say. As you can imagine, I'm sad to be selling it without having used it properly.
I'm based in South London but can travel. I'm offering £450 as need a quick sale. I can be reached on 07872348199 or jhwooding@hotmail.com

Apologies for the repost, there was some confusion in my earlier post.
This bike combines a lovingly restored 56cm Columbus steel frame by master framebuilder Claus Lauer from the mid-'80s, with top of the line modern components.
Frame and fork:
- painted in sparkly silver, Columbus steel with a Cinelli bottom bracket shell and Campagnolo track dropouts.
Components:
- front Nisi rim with Miche Pista hub
- rear Aerospoke
- Miche Pista cranks
- Fizik Arione saddle
- NJS stamp stem
- Continental Gatorskin tyres
- Oury grips
- full lights on new batteries (including 5 knog frogs on the Aerospoke)
- Shimano LX SPD pedals
I can also throw in a Kryptonite New York lock and chain.
The bike rides beautifully, it's light but the frame is very solid. I've always ridden it very conservatively and it's never (never) been crashed. I'm sad to be selling it!
I'm asking £600 as I need a quick sale. I can be reached on 07872348199 or jhwooding@hotmail.com. I'm based in South London but can travel.

"Other bike shops are available, including the excellent 14 very nearby"
Yep. Would have been worth the 5 minute walk. I think it was reasonable of me to buy vaguely labelled stuff based on Jan's word, on the assumption that he was telling the truth, but meh we're getting bogged down in the detail. The whole situation wouldn't have arisen in a decent bike shop, or even a shitty one like the one I used to work in - we wouldn't sell stuff that was poorly labelled, and we wouldn't mislead customers when asked specific questions even if it meant losing a sale. BLB are total hucksters and I can't believe they're still in business. The only reason I went was because it was en route, anyway if this topic has been done to death before I'll happily watch this thread sink.

"law wins"! thanks for the progold tip. the wheelbuild was about 2 years ago, a long time ago but such elementary errors that I still wouldn't go back for any big work. I only dropped in to buy lube because I was like, "surely they can't fuck THAT up"...the thing is he could've just said "I don't know", there was no need to bullshit.
I don't fully understand the hostility shown to this thread - sorry if the topic isn't hipster enough - but if this site isn't for reporting stuff like this, what is???
