LFGSS and Microcosm shutting down 16th March 2025 (the day before the Online Safety Act is enforced)
I can't even fully articulate yet what this place has done for me. I just simply wouldn't be in the same place physically, emotionally, mentally, financially or geographically if it weren't for here. For so many reasons.
The fallout of this bill and what it is doing to sites like this one is going to be a literal death knoll for a lot of people. Chronic loneliness and lack of community is such a massive trigger for suicide in men. Rates of which are disgustingly high already given the state of our mental health services and any support for young people to try and get in front of any issues. Taking away what is likely the only lifeline for them to be open or discuss something they share and interest in, is going to fucking suck, hard. I focus on men here as it is very likely that a lot of these fora are probably strongly weighted in that way, not that only men will be affected.
And I don't mean "taking away" as anything accusatory to Velocio. It is the result of the bill.

snack items
That handy thing is, I got Invisalign last month. That makes eating anything quite an annoying production. Bands off, aligners out (tricky and painful at times), eat (with tender teeth), brush teeth, brush aligners, refit aligners, refit bands. Has made snacking pretty much zero since I got them. It makes think "Do I really need/want whatever it is I spy on the kitchen counter?" 99% of the time so far it's just not felt worth it.

Started riding (non e-bike) again in August. I was 110kg. Haven't really changed much else. I still eat and drink what I was doing at that point, but now down to 103kg. Not massive volume, but I'm wearing jeans and shirts that I haven't been able to for 2 years. Just bought a turbo trainer to get me through the winter now it's all going to be shit until March.

Self bald head shaver for 20+ years. Lithium ion is a must for longer cutting times and shorter charge times. Most annoying thing for me is getting the bits around and behind my ears as I wear glasses and have to take them off for those bits. Quick check with ms_com afterwards is usually enough. Don't cheap out too much as you want a set that allow you to take apart and clean the blades. Often what seems like blunted blades are just gummed with with tiny clippings. Clean and oil fairly regularly but not necessary after each cut. I do mine in the bath/shower, in the buff. Makes clean up of the area and myself easier. Plus, you can attend to any other grooming you need at the same time. Just gather up as many of the clippings as I can by hand when I'm done and chuck those in the toilet then shower the rest off. I have to deal with any blockages in the house anyway so I'm not too worried about what goes down the drain.
I just got a set of babyliss pro super motor jobbies as my last set had worn to the point that no amount of cleaning or resetting stopped them leaving lines. And I got annoyed as at the last trim, mini_com was hammering on the door saying she needed a poo and refused to use the other toilet. So I rushed to finish, missed a load of bits, and then mini_com decided she didn't need a poo after all.

I couldn't comment on price as mine came on the GSD. And they are the e version with a microswitch in the lever that activates a brake light. That's a nice feature but not earth shattering to not have. Plus, lots of stories of people ripping the wire out as it is quite thin and flimsy. I just added extra zip ties to secure it to the brake hose as the clips it came with don't really do much.

We got Everest upvc sash windows about 3 years ago and they've been grand. They even replaced the trim around a massive bay window in our bedroom after our builder unceremoniously ripped it all off, thinking they could just get any old shit and stick it on. Did that free of charge. Also, now is a good time to get quotes as every sales person will be trying to hit their number. We got our quote around this time of year and it was less than half of RRP (and cheaper then a few local places) in the end.

Bought this in August to get me back into road riding. That worked but it is way too big for me so have already replaced it. Nothing at all wrong with it, almost as new condition. Broke one spoke but got that replaced by De Ver (where I bought it from in the first place).
Comes with a 70mm stem (my effort to make it fit me).
No pedals
Prologo saddle
Out front wahoo mount
Two giant bottle cages
Box of bits it came with originally (collar and brake bridge for fitting mudguards/racks should you so wish).
It is in really really good nick so looking for £800. But happy to be told I'm way off if anyone can educate me.
This exact model of bike, bought from the same shop - https://www.devercycles.co.uk/bikes/road-bikes/2021-giant-contend-sl-2-disc-road-bike-in-purple-size-xl__46472
