I wont open new thread...have few noobish questions before I order online:
-Is a whole 1/8 system really stronger than 3/32 one? I have currently stock 3/32, and I'm thinking of changing chain and chainring too (or I just buy 3/32). I need strong drivetrain as I'm riding brakeless.
-Can I run 1/8 chain on 1/8 sprocket and 3/32 ring (or it would be noisy?)

So I changed sprocket on my Pista, tightened sprocket, tightened lockring, go for a ride, skid and almost fucked my knee while sprocket was turning.
I'm not sure but is it safe to use some sort of spacer, I think that my new sporcket is narrower than stock one? It's cheap sprocket, they didn't have any other. And the nearest shop that sells track stuff is 350km away and different country:)
thank you

Hello! As I'm sick of waiting for my bianchi pista(been 2 months, and it'll have to wait 25days more), I'm looking for threaded fork/steam in the meantime. I'll put nitto quill stem on Pista because of aesthetic reasons.
I'm looking for 1" steel threaded fork which is not straight (should be curved like pista's default fork.) and not the cheapest or low quality.
I'm looking for a shop that ships abroad (from england, germany,italy...), was searching the net and couldn't find proper one.Oh, was anyone putting threads on pista's threadless fork? Is the tube wall thick enough?
thanks

edmundane
egidio I was thinking for a winter fixed project, but I calculated and couldn't believe the price- around £800 I'm thinking to get the full bianchi pista for £482 and change that ugly steam (what do you think?).
I wrote down this prices:Surly Steamroller €459 £346, or some second hand frame, don't know yet
Pair of Deep V's laced to Miche/Surly/whatever hubs €240 £180
Tyres - €40 £30
Miche Crank + pedals + Chainring - €110 £83
bb - €20 £25
Saddle + seatpost - €35 £25
Stem Nitto bar+stem €80 £60
Chain + cog €40 £30
Shipping cost: €30+, £20+ (as we haven't got any trackbike store in whole country(im not from uk), nobody(in a bike shops) knows what a fixed hub is)steamroller frame for that much?? you can get a keirin frame with that money! also, if you're not from the UK, why buy from the UK since the pound is strong now you'll have much more luck buying from somewhere else (i.e. US).
I putted gbp in prices just that it'll be easier for you to read (I'm from Slovenia - have euros). I'll probably order from germany. I think that shipping cost and taxes would be extremely high if I'd order from usa.
What do you think about bianchi pista (£482)? Is that cheap or expencive, I'll probably replace stem and rims in a first week.

I have Olympia road bike, I juts took a picture: http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii292/pictilense/IMG_0045b_small.jpg
When I lean it it looks like this: http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii292/pictilense/IMG_0047small.jpg
What would you do with it? ss or fixed? -
I just got an 20y.o. italian road bike in great condition, I already converted it to ss.
I have a plan converting it to fixie, but I have some problems.Problem is that bike has 650c wheels and I think bb is too low for fixed gear(bb is 10in off the ground), but I'm not sure. If the crank is in lowest position it is 8cm(3in) off the ground(9.5cm(3.7 in) from center of pedal axe to the ground) Is that enough crank clearance for cornering or I'd better stick with ss?
Anybody ride here fixed with converted road bike with 650c wheels?
cheers
I want to share with you photos from a little trip to interesting unfinished power station, shaped like velodrome.

It was awesome riding there, soon it will be filled with water and closed for public.
Have fun!
