Ride On Again bikes on West Broadway in Kitsilano also has a very nice selection of older road and mountain bikes, from $100 an up. some are a bargain (especially when you know that it's been given a once over by a bike shop, and saves you a sometimes time wasting trip to see something from a craigslist ad).
-
I've recently moved over here from London with the girlfriend (who is from Vancouver originally). Depending on what kind of bike you want, there are a few places to look. Craigslist always seems to have stuff - but you won't save much money on a track bike if that's what you're looking for.
Because they've totally fallen from fashion, you can pick up a nice 1990s / early 2000s mountain bike for very little, between $50 and $200 ($200 will get you quite a lot of 90's steel MTB).I brought my own Gazelle road bike over from london, but am on the lookout for a mountain bike to mess about on as there are some really nice trails here; mostly in North Vancouver, but also some off-road sections around stanley park and other parts of the waterfront (have never seriously mountain biked, and have no illusions of being successful, but would be nice to mess around and worry less about breaking things).
Even if you don't end up doing much off-road, I feel like a steel/rigid mountain bike is great value all-rounder - they are so ubiquitous here that they're less likely to attract the attention of bike thieves, than say a 'fixie gear bike'. Especially when you lock up outside that cool new bar that's next door to that crack-hotel on East Hastings St (it might happen one day...).I'm also planning on using a mountain bike for some light touring on vancouver island / sunshine coast, which might be something you want to think about (the scenery is pretty incredible here, would be a shame not to do some longer rides).

Hey all, I'm posting this on behalf of my dad:
He is on the lookout for a Black circa 1930s Rudge Whitworth bicycle removed from the basement of the Oxo Tower building (south bank) between last thursday and saturday (12-14th Jan).
Strictly speaking it was unlocked, as all of the bikes 'unclaimed' bikes in the basement had been cut free as part of a clean up operation. But even though unlocked, it doesn't make them another's property.
There is some disagreement between my dad and the building management as they were cut free 48 hours earlier than the posted deadline, and as such my dad hadn't had time to remove it before the cut-free operation.I'm assuming that a lot of the bikes in the basement may have been taken en-masse by dealers or for parts? I know for a fact that the Rudge needed a bit of work doing, so it's unridable and probably sitting somewhere awaiting restoration or purchase right now.
Please shoot me a PM if anyone has any details; Would really appreciate any info as the bike has quite a strong sentimental value.
Cheers! -

SOLD
Very good condition, with all the original packaging and power supply.
Has a few minor scuffs to the wooden end panels, but aside from that its in great condition; never been gigged, only used from time to time.Sadly I've managed to loose the gooseneck mic for the vocoder - but never really found myself vocoding much anyway. You can line-in with any mic (which i'm sure would be much better quality than the stock Korg one anyway) or other sound source.
Don't have the manual, but PDFs are available off of the Korg site.

Just had my black, very nearly totally broken in Brooks Team Pro nicked on Silk Street opposite Barbican.
Aside from Brick Lane and London Fields are there any other hotspots I should check tomorrow on the off chance of finding it?
Was thinking the same for mine. What is the success rate for finding stolen parts I wonder (been v lucky in that this has never happened to me until now).

Small fry compared to some of the bigger losses on this thread but....
If anyone is offered a fishy Brooks B17 (honey with copper rivets) saddle this week, please let me know ASAP.
Was out this eve at the Dove on Broadway market; sat outside the pub for an hour or so and it was taken from my locked bike across the street. I don't know how I missed it as It was just about in plain view of the pub.
It was in good nick, Aside from some jeans rub on the nose of the saddle. Also a general waring to anyone drinking round there- obviously I'm not there often enough to realise just how opportunistic the thieves are around that part- watch out. Apologies if this is OT for this thread, couldn't think where else it would fit.

~~ Formula / Zenith Hubs~~ SOLD
Pair, 32h, Fixed/FixedFront is Brand new, still has box.
Rear was loosely built onto a rim (first wheel build project), but i never got round to tightening it up properly. So there are a few marks around the spoke holes, but nothing significant. I also left this half-built wheel on the balcony for a couple of days (stupidly) so the rear hub has some rust on one of the nuts and a little on the bearing outer. this is really minor (bearings run like new).hubs run about £55 a pair at SJS, so £30 a pair?
**Gran Compe track hubs **SOLD
Pair, 32H, Fixed/fixed
£60both brand new, never used. no marks. Great Hubs, I already have a black set, which is why im selling.
**Cinelli Criterium / 1A comboSOLD**
90mm stem, 65 / 40 stem.
£25 for both£20various marks from levers and scratches on stem from mounting.
I've had trouble getting the stem tight enough for my forks, may just be my forks as I've compared it against other 1A stems, and there seems nothing wrong with mine. I bought another Cinelli stem bolt + plug in the hope of sorting it, but never got round to trying. so will include the extra stem bolt too.**Soma TA-BO saddleSOLD**
£10Was a copy of the Turbo, but I think they've stopped producing them since Selle Italia re-released the Turbo. Rode it for about 2 weeks until i decided to get something else. Good condition No major marks, transfers are coming off, and scuffed on the rear right side (see pic). Looking at it now looks to be a bit wonky (see pic)? Don't remember how this could have happened, has been in a box for a year or so.
**Alloy 26.0mm Seat postSOLD**
£5bought for a project and realised I needed 25.4mm. Brand new other than small mark at the bottom of post from attempting to put it in a hole far too small (whey!).I have no use for a this so it needs to go.
**Almost new Brake setSOLD**
£20£15Basically unused, came off a Langster complete. Front + Rear dual pivot, both with cross-top levers and cables (all connected and ready to go). hardly any wear on the brake blocks.
All Cash on collection please, I'm in Clerkenwell round the corner from Condor (bottom of Roseberry Ave).
