A photo of Roberto made it on to yesterday's post.

Forgot to say that I very much enjoyed the ride last weekend. I haven't been riding in that area before but it was very pleasant, and the sorts of gradients were pretty well suited to the fixed gear. Also a good greasy spoon for a slap up lunch at the half way stop. It was a shame that most people didn't make it, but hopefully next time!

Nordic Barista Cup 2011: James Hoffmann - Reinventing Espresso on Vimeo
This guy!
Quite enjoyed watching that whilst sitting in waiting for the postman to arrive with my la Pavoni.

Amazing stuff from Froomey! Remember his Barlowold days, amazing to see how far he has come and how far he could still go. Not to overshadow Wiggo's great ride though, and it takes the pressure off him slightly. Could be like Nibali and Basso in last year's Giro which didn't do either of them any harm. My 18-1 bet on wiggo is looking pretty good!

Thank you for the good wishes! It was a really tough day in the saddle. I'd been determined to get into a breakaway, so was pleased to get in the chasing group, but it was such a long, hard race! Those final few miles really finished me off (as the picture shows!). Thanks to the forumengers who came down to support the race.
Could he look any more 'pro'?!
That's what it is all about!

That was a very engaging read. I like Landis (and make no apologies). I wish contemporary cyclosport had more interesting personalities, rather than the finishing school droids of teams like Leosayer Trek.
I found the article an interesting read. I found Landis to be pretty convincing. Certainly his story sounds realistic enough to be highly credible. I also feel pretty sorry for everything he has put himself through.
Interesting that he "would do everything the same and I would just admit it, afterwards", which seems to be working for that prick Riccò; that he will ride the Tour and Sastre and Menchov will not really annoys me for some reason.

Robert Förstemann was in the Keirin last night at Berlin. He started at the top of the track in shorts 1-2 sizes too small. The gun went and like a bullet he was behind the Derny; there was a bit of argie-bargie with Stefan Nimke, but he held firm. Nimke then tried to take Maximilian Levy's place just behind big Rob, but he too held firm. Stefan settled for 5th wheel.
The Derny slowly wound it up and suddenly Levy swung right up the track out of the saddle, swooping down just as the Derny pulled off. Before Förstemann could react he was two or three lengths behind. It looked like Levy had it sewn up but then from
miles back Nimke launched an attack. Förstemann didn't know what had hit him! Nimke soon sailed past Levy for a clear win.Let's see if big Rob tries a different tactic tonight!

Interesting comment from Andy Schleck regarding their hug on the Tourmalet and his friendship with Contador:
"I have my arm on his shoulder, but I am not doing anything. It was his way of saying, look, we are friends (….) But he knows what I think of him, and he knows that if we find ourselves in the Tour, I won't wait for mechanical trouble."

It gets on my nerves no end- although not as much as the article I read (or perhaps it was a review of an espresso machine or something) that suggested espresso tasted better if you drank it standing up while wearing a 'gray business suit'.
My feeling is that coffee is best consumed strong (ie. espresso) on a patio in Italy in full team kit.

I really enjoyed this race in 2010 and was looking forward to it this year. Unfortunately, I was disappointed because nothing really seemed to happen. The highlight last year was the Old Wolugar Hill stage when Cadel Evans did a terrific ride, but this year it didn't grab me in the same way. All the Pros look fat as well, especially TEAM LEOPARD.

Where is that list from?
I used all of these excuses on a ride yesterday (replacing the 4th one with it being my 4th straight day of riding rather than the 6 hours) and was promptly dropped on te next climb! I feel so pro!
On a more serious note, I'm feeling good, done 8 hours training so far this week and now enjoying a rest day, just need a good weekend to cap a good week.
Good man! Evan Oliphant will be impressed if you tell him that soon you'll win a beautiful stage.
There are several versions of these rules. There is an early one on this site: http://www.lfgss.com/thread2693.html
My favourite one is: http://vanderkittenliz.blogspot.com/2008/03/current-obsessions-2-official-rules-of.html
There is also a Facebook group, but I think it has had too many extra rules added now. Forum and photos are quite good though: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2258201150
Finally it would appear that 'Velominati' took a copy of them, added loads of rubbish ones and went on to claim that they own them. You can read their version at: http://www.velominati.com/blog/the-rules/ but I wouldn't bother.

I just pulled my hamstring. Feels serious.
- When asked "how are you?" while riding you must proceed with one of the following...
- Complain about coming off a sickness.
- Explain you're peaking for bigger races later in the season
- Mention that this is a "recovery ride"
- That you are on the tail end of your daily 6 hour training ride
...
- If in doubt, the euro cyclist shall mention in an interview that his pollen allergies are acting up, and that he’s not sure that he’ll win the Giro this year. In this situation, remember to note that the sensations are otherwise good, and that eventually you’ll win a beautiful stage.
Rob is living the Euro dream!

For sale is my Guerciotti Cyclocross frame. This is an Guerciotti frame made by Alan with bonded aluminium legs etc. Very nice classic looking frame.
There was a crack on the head tube which I got repaired (as you can see) and this has lasted two years without issues. Ideal for building into a cyclocross bike for the winter!
Includes headset, Campagnolo Italian threaded bottom bracket, seat-post bolt, and cable hangers for from and rear brakes. Seat tube 58cm c-t-c and top tube 56cm.
Quite a bargain at £50, I would say. Pick-up from Herne Hill, SE24.
