Nearly finished:
Things to do:
Slightly shorter stem - 90mm with maybe 17 degree rise (current is 100mm with 10 degree)
New wheel set - Thinking gold Planet-X hubs and black mavic open sport rims (on a budget). Silver spokes maybe?
New seatpost - Maybe an Easton EA30
New saddle - Not sure, probably a Charge Spoon in black
New pedals - Might force myself to go SPD.Looking good!!! I've just bought a Sterling Green Large Pomp after agonising over the colour, but the brown looks really good in your photos. Unfortunately I've now done my back in, so I can't even get her out to take photos at the moment let alone ride :-(

Thanks for that. I'd be interested in one of those last OG ones if I could get a brake mount fork and a decent price to the UK
They're making me a double crown fork with canti mounts and I'm having one of the last framesets, for a do it all road/offroad/cyclocross type build I've got going on. They've also made up some clusterforks with 990 mounts. The only thing you can't have is a normal road caliper due to the long a-c.
Shipping isn't too bad, customs will want their customary pound of flesh, but I've wanted one of these for soooo long and this is my last chance so I'm biting the bullet. Tokyo Fixed Gear had 1 left in a 50cm at £775 f+f but that's just too big for me (they have odd sizing)

Joe at BMW has found enough tubing lurking about to make 15 more Gangstas in the factory in Brooklyn. They'll all be 46cm, and I know that at least 13 are spoken for. Not sure of the time scale but the top tubes are at the laser cutters at the moment. They're asking $850 f+f, and I think that includes a headset and seatpost. I was told the Taiwanese made versions will be available from the end of June, but will not have the double crown fork. I believe they'll have the clusterfork instead.

Only problem with leVel is that they are a relatively small manufacturer making a hub with a proprietory (sp?) cog attachment system, meaning if they go to the wall you can't get replacements. Having said that, if everyone thought like that, leVel would have gone bust ages ago, so what do I know?! However, they are VERY nice. Have you considered Goldtech?

Whai cantis have you got? I spent ages (probably more than 6 months) trying to get my Shorty 6s' setup and without squeal or juddering on my Pompino. Gone over to a vee brake now and problem gone. Anyway, back to your problem, are the pads set the same distance out from the canti body (assuming you have post type pads), and at the same level in the canti body? Assuming ther cantis themselves move freely on the mounting bosses, then I'm fairly sure it must be differing spring weights causing the problem. Sheldon (RIP) has some good stuff on canti setup.

Don't Halo use some non standard thread pitch? I had a Halo fixed/free hub a little while ago (which I ended up selling on) and I'm positive that the track nuts off my On-One hubs didn't fit when I tried them.
@ OP-I've had a quick look via google and I can't find any info. I'd go back to wherever you got the wheels from and ask them.

Hope you heal up quick mate. Get a solicitor on the case even if the third party insurers admit liability. Make sure whoever you choose works on the basis of no win no fee, and that they will claim their expenses separately from your compensation. I have a wheel you can borrow if you need it-Open Pro on an On One fixed/fixed hub 120mm.

@ all-thanks very much for your enthusiastic response and kind comments.
@ ironman-cheers dude, I have the utmost respect for your mob and the job you do. Despite the fact you're all completely mad :-)
@ diable-I do a bit of private work for a company that covers the races. Not related to MM are you?

Well done, a very worth while and tough job.
Once your fully free would you fancy becoming one of the bike paramedics?
Need to get back out on my bike and get my fitness built up again (I've been a bit preoccupied as you know), but I'm applying next time the secondment comes up.
Thanks for the kind replies everyone.

I've just passed my Paramedic course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been working as an EMT on the mean streets of SE18 for a few years and have had to undergo selection assessments and exams, a year of pre course study, an 8 week course of lectures, scenarios and role play assessments, many written and multi choice exams, modules on advanced life support, trauma life support and management, obstetrics, paediatrics, paramedic drugs,ECG recognition and loads more. I still have to go to hospital starting next week, and work under a consultant anaesthatist and an A&E consultant for 4 weeks before being unleashed on you lot, but as you may have gathered I'm well happy!
Thanks for listening, you've been a wonderful audience, g'night

They should work fine together. Do the levers have a little button on the side near the pivot? If this is in the wrong position, it may give the problem you have. It's for allowing the blocks to move away from the rim for ease of wheel removal. Other than that, and making sure you have pulled the cable through properly, dunno...sorry. Post pics of them mounted up on the bike.

Do not get dirt harry's they are horrible bulky things and are designed to be used on the bend of a bar.
If you are using canti's you do not want v brake levers. Although some (like avid ones) have adjustable pull making them suitable for either.
For V brakes, shimano's would be a high quality value choice.
Didn't even think of that. I think I have some Avid SD7s in my parts box, that have the modulation adjuster thingy. It works by adjusting cable pull. You are a genius DFP thanks

Shimano Deore V Brake Lever?
Come in black or silver
No. this is the problem. V brake levers do not work with any type of brake other than V brakes. It's to do with the amount of cable pull. I need this style of lever, but with less cable pull. I'm not being anal about it, read Sheldon...
Lever compatibility
[INDENT]Direct-pull cantilevers require special brake levers. Direct-pull brake levers pull the cable twice as far, half as hard. It is not generally safe to mix and match levers/cables between direct pull and other types for this reason.
- Conventional brake levers used with direct-pull cantilevers will usually not pull enough cable to stop in wet conditions without bottoming out against the handlebars. In dry conditions, they either won't work, or will grab too suddenly.
- Direct-pull brake levers used with any other type of brakes will feel nice and solid when you squeeze them, but you'll need to squeeze twice as hard to stop as you should, so unless you are a lightweight rider with gorilla-like paws, this combination isn't safe either.

With the imminent arrival of my Steamroller which will be fixed with drops, my Pompino is going flat barred and single speed. I'm having trouble finding brake levers though. As I understand it, there are 2 types of lever, conventional and linear pull. You can only use linear pull levers with V brakes. Conventional levers work with all other brake types (Sheldon says), including the Avid Shorty 6 cantilevers that I have for the Pomp. So all I need are a pair of nice quality conventional pull flat bar brake levers to complete my build. I was looking at Dirty Harrys or something but I'm not sure if the lever blade will sit too far from the bar-it's hard to judge with only an internet picture. Anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Peace

Hope you enjoy your Pomp. I'm on my 3rd...first crashed, second stolen. You may want to upgrade the freewheel pretty quick, the standard 'Eagle' one is a bit poo and the fixed gear and lockring are cheapy too. Otherwise it's all good. You gone for drop bars or flats?
