Ha! you beat me to it, I was plotting the map now on the LCC site at the same time.
That's a bit nicer with the annotations. What did you use to plot it?

I plotted the routes on a map
to make it easier to avoid them.

After breaking something in my little finger in a cycling accident about two years ago (not sure what: two x-rays were inconclusive), it took me a long time to regain full flexion in the affected joint. To start with, I could hardly bend the finger at all, which was annoying: I kept dropping coins!
Part of my rehabilitation was physically pushing it as far as it would go. I used stretchy tape to force it to bend. It hurt. It worked: my finger now has full movement, although it took about six months to get to that point.
The joint is wider than it was, and I still get the odd click or twinge, but I'm led to believe that that's almost unavoidable in finger joint injuries.

I had a close call this morning.
I parked in the stands in the middle of High Holborn at 08:45. I came back an hour later, and my bike was still there, but the one that had been locked to the other side of the rack wasn’t. I had locked my bike frame to the stand with an Evo mini, with a Kryptoflex cable through the wheels to deter anyone with a spanner. The 10mm thick braided steel had been cleanly sliced through.
It's a busy time of day. The stands are right next to a busy pedestrian crossing. We really don't have a chance, do we?

tom. Am I the only one that - when they see a car/bus/etc sticking out into an ASF - wants to cut whatever is in the ASF off? Teach those BMW drivers and bendy buses a lesson.
You're not alone. In those circumstances, I make a point of stopping right in front of them, then being very slow away when the light turns green. Especially if it's a flashy car.

I'm in Berlin this week. It's not Amsterdam, but it's good to see a lot of people travelling around by bike. Unfortunately, it's Shank's pony for me.
I saw some eyebrow-raising cycle parking yesterday on Friedrichstraße.
Must be a one-off, you might think. You'd be wrong!
Are there no bike thieves in Berlin?!

wappingwarrior After picking out the frame and wheels, it was already £550! 10% to build it and the rest of the bits soon mount up! £30 saddle, £20 leaver, £40 caliper, £24 tyres, £14 tubes, £18 chain, £40 chainset, £15 bars, £24 pedals, £15 straps, £15 seatpost, £25 headset, plus grips, wheel tape and you've got your price!
£38 for a pair of Rubinos plus inner tubes? You've been had!

peejay78 he's got a point, i mean, when i see those shiny full sus mtbs that cost £100 for two in a stock liquidity clearance in the back pages of the daily mail sunday supplement i realise just how foolish i have been.
I was taking a rest on a bench by the river in Deptford yesterday, when I was disturbed by a weird squeaking noise.
[em]Ee-aw ee-aw ee-aw ee-aw ...[/em]
It was the rear suspension on a full suspension MTB, tyres handsomely flat, seat inefficiently low, the piston creaking as it pumped with each pedal revolution.
It's yet another maintenance item for the owners to neglect. I don't think I exaggerate when I say that it probably took him four times as much effort as it would on my bike. And yet people scorn simple machines with one gear!

andrewleitch86 Oh yeah that's another thing. Most of the bars I've seen look pretty wide. What's a good width to chop 'em down to?
I bought one of those Halfords riser bars today. I needed to replace my decrepit creaking drops, and fancied a change.
It's a bargain, nice and shiny, and the crappy branding comes off with a little silver polish. With grips and a brake, I couldn't chop them any shorter than 50cm, but 50cm feels like a good width for me, anyway, coming from 40cm drops.
I took the new arrangement out for a leisurely ride this afternoon, and found that my bike felt completely different. My riding position was more relaxed, steering was easier, and I felt like I was much more in control. I think I'll keep them!

broken_77 well even the ones with stalls for sure do stolen stuff.....even some of the bikeshops in south london used or still do stolen bikes. Pedal it on borough high street or Recycling in the elephant and castle arches anyone??????
Recycling looks very dodgy. They also ask absurdly high prices for some of the tetanus'y old wrecks they sell there.

BringMeMyFix Stealing brakes is not a nice thing to do. Irresponsible pricks...
Thieves irresponsible? I'm shocked! Shocked!
Here's a heartwarming story about a thief to cheer you all up.
Is it a new chain and an old sprocket?
