Though the studio is slap bang in Shoreditch, he might have seen an article on milk bottle mud guards in vice magazine or something...
That is almost certainly the actual truth :(
The article seemed a bit weird and pointless though. Not really worth getting your knickers in a twist about I wouldn't have thought?

Riding up camden high st, some fucking prick pretends to punch me as I ride past him. further up near the lock, a white guy with dreads (why?) pretends to pull his trousers down and act as if taking a shit infront of me. Obviously from cornwall, listens to techno and rides a gay longboard. I hope he dies. I hate camden.
Camden is cock-town all round...
To be honest though, I don't think most people are that observant that they notice if I've got gears of not. A guy did once shout "Fixed wheel freak" at me but I couldn't tell if it was the bad kind of freak.
Probably...

I take it you mean strip all the components off the bike rather than striping the paint off back to the bare metal, as Armortex shot blast/ chemical bath the frame/ forks whatever is being done before powdercoating.
They did my frame, forks, stem and 2 sets of bars for 50 quid
Yes, sorry, I meant just strip it of all parts, not remove the paint yourself. And as mentioned further down they will leave all threads clean and paint free so you don't have to worry about that either.
It really is a top quality service I must admit. Now back to waiting 1 month for my freakin French headset :(
-
For Armourtex you need to strip it right down to just bear metal.
They'll powder coat whatever you give 'em so if you don't want a nice matching colour (non-moving) headset & BB you'll want to pop out all your bits.
The finish is beaut though (with gloss laquer) and for an extra fiver I had them do my stem too which not looks total sex :)
The only downside for me has been discovering my eBay forks have turned out to be French threaded :(

Definately those private cars with the blue (or yellow?) stickers in the back window. They drive like proper shits.
I shouted some colourful abuse at one guy a while back after he nearly wiped me out and he screeched to a halt and got out of his car shouting at me. He was a fuckin loony! It was like some gang shit outta The Wire!!

So are fixed wheel (or single speed) bikes now seen as a higher risk regardless of their immediate value than other types of bike? Just wondering if the whole 'fashion' for fixed wheel bikes has now made the once low-maintenance, unattractive to thieves option a victim of its own renewed popularity?
-
Fair enough single speed and fixed gear are quite different things. But fixed gear and fixed wheel?!!? Am I missing something important here or is this a debate on semantics?
Meh! -

It's funny the angle he's coming from though. I could imagine a load of Couriers getting sniffy about their daily mode of transport getting slowly raped by Nathan Barley, but he doesn't even ride one?! Why should he even care?
If you get yourself all bent out of shape about every weak 'counter culture' fashion jerk that's out there, you're going to spend your life in permanent torment.

brett Strange to be marketed as a "Track Frameset" yet have 3 braze-ons for a rear brake cable plus a rear drilling. If it was a complete bike I could understand, but something about that doesn't ring true to me.
I can only guess it's intended more down the lines of an 'urban' track bike like your Langsters and Paddy Wagons with their dual brakes?
Cheers for the links too - ain't heard of that Hubjub place before!
-
Yeah - it ain't gonna win any beauty contests and the welds are a little on the functional side, but it's pretty cheap (even after dragging back from the states!)
I was thinking maybe I could fork out a bit of cash on having the top tube brake cable eyelets removed and have a slightly less 'gray' paint-job...
Out of interest, any tips (or previous threads) on where you guys favour for buying odds and sods?
Oh yeah - and how feasible is it to use a standard old double ring crank with just the one ring? Alignment issues likely?

Hello there! First post after a week of lurking, looking at the bike porn.
Just wondered - has anyone heard of and/or used wheelandsprocket on ebay? And even more specifically, anyone got any ideas or opinions on these frame/forks?The other question is - are BMX chains a safe bet to put on a fixie? Just that I've seen a few nice coloured BMX chains but am not sure if they'll be long enough for a 700cc setup (they'd be new)
Anyway, hope someone can help! I'll get back to perving over exotic Yamaguchi filth now...
If that's yours, you one TALL muthafucka!
