I've been running the ST-1000 cranks with 126mm dropouts with a stronglight 107mm bottom bracket which gives a pretty good chainline (±1mm). No problems for the last 4 months.
Only £12 from Spa cycles.

Now they're bloody Swedish children characters!
The Spok-spok gang live in a forst with flowers, pine trees, and red cottages. In the sky, hot air balloons almost always fly around. There's also a reindeer living in the woods, but he's super shy, and always hides. Spok-spok is pretty shy, too.
Spok-spoks don't need any food, but they like hugs. So hug your Spok-spok alot, and for a long time, and you will be super happy together.
[edit] I swear that house in the forest looks like the Henry hoover [/edit]

Maybe I'll take some pics of the frame tomorrow. It is nowhere near as bad as I described and twist is barely noticeable - there are no kinks or bent tubing and everything else looks good (it just recently had a respray). I probably exaggerated and is less than 5º off perpendicular.
The pic above probably doesn't describe the problem particularly well. This is probably a better pic to give you an idea what i mean:

I've just been given a Geoffrey Butler frame from a friend which I plan to make my second fixed.
However there is a slight problem with the frame, that is it was in a slight accident and the head tube got a little twisted out of alignment (perpendicularly) with the rest of the frame (see pic - note not my frame just an exmaple). Everything else is in perfect order but this slight twist is putting the head tube out of alignment by approximately 5-10 degrees and needs to be twisted back.
Does anyone know who could do this? I don't have any big vices or a something to clamp the frame to prevent bending anything else if i tried to fix it myself.
see next post for pic

TheBrick(Tommy)
Rakan. Corner of Grays inn road and Ampton street last night. Be cearful of this corner boys and girls I was waiting for police to turn up as I had just seen some locals who's mothers should have just given head beat the shit out of some poor cyclist waiting at the traffic lights, regular occuarce on that junction according to a local lady.Yah, I cycle through that junction every evening then mash it up Percy Circus... I too have noticed the pesky kids that block the cycle path but have never had any trouble - I think there is a police station just round the corner?
runcible rakan Who are the UCL fixies? Two who lock up next to each other, white frame, blue frame. Blue one looks like something Kiwicycles Paul was selling a while ago.
I'm the white frame - bloody admin staff won't let me lock my bike up inside the LCN, so I get the porter to check every 30mins :) btw Someone left me a "Joyride" spoke card the other day, but by the time I got home it had fallen out :(

I was actually given one of these as a gift from a friend in Stockholm. Initially I thought it was a crap idea until the other day I aggressively crammed my shiny macbook pro into my bag, squishing my banana.
It was not until I got to work that I had realised that my USB, power and headphone ports had been gunked up with mushy banana - My laptop now stinks of rotten banana!!
I now proudly place my lunchtime snack into my blue banana holder (and yes, it does fit all shapes and sizes) without fear of finding my apple coated in banana.

Bloody hell I must be blind...I swear it said 170mm! Although they're a little expensive I don't mind spending the money on some quality parts.
Any suggestions on a bottom bracket? (How do I figure out what size I'll need?)
Sorry about all the questions!
PS - Does anyone stop off at Filthy McNasties on Amwell street for a quick bevy in the evening? I tend to ride by on my way back from work and often see several fixies outside.
-
Thanks...I checked out the brake topic and I probably just need some new brake pads and some fine adjustments.
As for the 45T chainring, I probably miscounted so it could well have been 44 or 46T.
I'm still having problems finding a suitable 165mm crankset - I've checked cyclebasket and not having much luck :(

I've been lurking on these forums for a while and decided to sign up to get some advice for my first build.
I'm currently riding a naff old road bike someone gave to me when my MTB decided to give out on me. After being suitable impressed with the speed of the bike (compared to my old one), I've decided that it needs a bit of TLC. Since I'm too lazy to shift gears, a fixed-gear is kinda appealing!I've been in contact with Arup who has kindly offered to build a couple of wheels for me, however I'm need of some advice for some other bits and pieces before the wheels go on. I've only got around £200 (inc wheels/hubs) to spend and I'm happy with the frame, saddle and bars. I've made a list of items that I think need to be replaced and would be grateful for any advice on the parts or other parts that you might suggest:
Front brake (caliper) and brake lever - My current one is a bit crap, drop is about 50mm.
Crankset and maybe bottom bracket (not sure what state my one is in and what compatibility is like!?) - Currently at 175mm and would prefer 165mm to prevent clipping the road on sharp bends.I'm extremely comfortable riding 45T on the front and 16T on the back so I would be looking for suitable parts (new or used).
Thanks, Pj
I just checked my tyres this morning and noticed that there were some small hairline cracks (probably about every 20-30cm) and wondered if this is a sign of replacement?
Currently I'm running a pair of Vittoria Rubino Road Race (at about 110psi) and I can guess that I've done at the most a 1000mi over the last 4 months with no flats - Is this reasonable wear considering I don't skid?
