I made what is effectively a slide copier from a cardboard box and jammed it onto a lens hood so I can screw it on a lens. I use this with an aging pentax k-m and a 50mm macro lens exposing at f8 and .7s with a 2 second shutter delay to hopefully prevent any camera shake. I use a tablet showing a white image for a light source at some distance so the pixels don't show. My main concern is that I only have 10MP to play with, and the lens doesn't focus close enough to fill the frame (you can see the raw file here) so my resulting crop is around 2750x1850 pixels. I've tried using a 2x teleconverter and stitching the image, but that introduced some distortion and didn't noticably improve the detail (at least on a 1080p screen). So I'm guessing that as long as I don't want to make big prints or show them on a 4k screen it is probably sufficient.

You could be right - no cycling is the future.
How do you leave yours when you sleep? I vaguely remember seeing a picture that shows the angle you leave it on your bedside table impacts the time somehow...
I believe that leaving it face up may let it gain a little time, on its side crown uppermost will lose a little time, crown down will lose a little more time.
This seems to hold true for my seiko 5 which runs a little fast during the day so leaving it crown down overnight seems to even it out. I have no idea if any of these positions impact on the watch's health.

This might be a bit low rent for the aficionados on this thread but I would like a smart watch to wear with a suit for around £100 - looking at the Swatch Irony Chronos but are there any other recommendations?
Feel free to heap with scorn if I'm far too cheap ;)
thanks
do you want a mechanical? Myabe an Orient Bambino? I've not found a uk seller, but this site is in Holland:

My first mechanical watch, a slightly battered Seiko 5 with 6309 movement acquired for pittance on ebay. Timekeeping so far has been hilarious, it seems to gain around 10s over the course of the day, but loses around the same overnight (left with the crown up). At the moment it is on the bracelet from an old casio digital, but I have a brown leather nato on the way, which I hope will dress it down a bit for a more casual look.

I have a la pavoni europiccola in need of a clean up and service. I am also moving to Canada so wondered if it could be converted to use a North American power supply. Does anyone know a place that might do this?
