Good stuff chug_it.......and you brush'd up well in your smart togs!
sharkstar - I got rejected from the VLM 2010, but am doing Brighton on the 18th April, so yeah, any long slowish stuff would be great.
Goals. Just to stay injury free and do another few marathons. And go ride the Pyrenees maybe.
(Managed to get all the way thru 2009 injury free until 27th December, out for a routine 'easy' 5 miler, last 100m put on a gentle spurt to get time inside 40 mins and TWANG, right calf muscle uncoupled. Bugger. Just goes to show what you get for easing off the miles and resting up a little!). -

Yeah, lets put some spin back in.......
On the 10th day of christmas
My true love sent to me
Ten-in-ches of ro-ode-ad-rash
Nine Jameses dancing,
Eight fixed's a-skiding,
Seven 'Spoks A-spinning,
Six policemen chasing,
Five gold rings,
Four courier bags,
Three Mercians,
Two lobster gloves,
And a puncture on the A3. -
I drove down to Huez back in August for some epic rides.......only pity was I had my family with me so had to keep the ride time shortish. Did all I could though......they were all much 'easier' than I thought they'd be! Here the blog http://kipperonabikealptastic.blogspot.com/. Hire bike was about £120 for a full week. A triple. No I didnt use the granny gear.
Can't wait to get back and also go explore the Pyrennes. -
Went down hard just 200m from my garage last night - first spill I've had in 8 fecking years too! Glad I had me lid on coz it was my head and my arse that took the impact. On investigation I was surprised I hadn't slipped off earlier on the same piece of road - it was hard just walking on it. Livid bruise on my arse this morning.
Take it nice and careful folks. -

Depends greatly on your definition of 'serious' runner.....I consider myself seriousish, 1/2 marathon distance most weekends, rain or shine kinda stuff.....
Clearly what you really mean is:-
"Are there any other LUNATICS on here that........"I've jogged up the 9 floors (I think its 22 flights of stairs) of my office and have expired by about the 7 floor, into a quivering dripping mass of snot, spittle and bile.
Good Luck!.....Report back too...

........ so i fail to see how that's relevant. You also fail to see the fact that November / December are pretty shitty times not to have a boiler. Especially if said boiler heats your water & house.
shitty indeed Soul.
...its relevance though is that its forgotten.
cheque book stubs and monthly bank statements used to be the only means of monitoring how much ££ was in your account. Now we have online, phone, hole-in-the-wall and mobile technology. I agree the banks are greedy. But I want banking to remain 'free'. I want the responsibility of my £££ to be mine, not the banks.

Kental Coastal Marathon last Sunday, 03:26:56 (39/236). 56 minutes quicker than my pathetic effort back in FLM2009 and 10 minutes quicker than my PB from 2004. At halfway (01:39) I was pretty sure I had it in the bag, tagged onto 2 fellas who came past me and stayed with them to 22.5 miles, Chariots of Fire were Us. Then I finally cramped and resorted to my usual straight-legged-shuffle-cramp-shuffle-wee-shuffle-curse-cry-laugh etc, etc all the way home, my kids jogging the last 1/4 mile with me. I still have quite a stupid smile on my face. I never thought I'd crack the 3:30 mark. If I can sort out the cramp issues I could probably, maybe, just scrape a sub-3:20(!?).
Next up is Brighton 18th April, and I've also entered London again....if I get in I'm doing both. So to see how it might feel I trotted off yesterday (1 week after marathon, legs still quite tight) for my usual 13.1 miles around Richmond Park. Miles 10 onwards were hellish. I cannot imagine being able to get fit enough to do 2 marathons a week back-to-back. But what the hell.
Oddly, once I'd got my leg over the bike, cycling was a breeze, especially fixed...spinning seemed to ease my soreness, whereas freewheeling did little for it at all.

so VBs away on holiday and we have to start a helmet debate?!
Can we start on the Red Light Jumpers too????
What about RDJ and NON helmet wearers - WOW, thats just suicide!
anyone ever ridden a motorcycle without a helmet??
its obvious to us now that this is plain crazy - but I can vouch that its also extremely exciting. So take your pick. I wear my helmets on all my rides baring the pootling to the shops. I feel naked when I dont have one on.
I dont force my 2 teenage kids to wear them. Each to their own. Its not a law.
LIKE THE RED LIGHTS........ -
cornwall and devon are by far the bumpiest bits of Britain.....I took the 'easy' option and zipped up the A30 to Okehampton, stopping at Bridgewater on day 1. Not the prettiest of routes, but I just wanted to clock miles! Good luck Rauri, hope the prevailing wind is kind to you.....Scotland is spectacular, even in the rain!
ascent = descent - t'either way round you go. personally I prefer to mix em up.
