I use RS Corsa from Deda TRE. They're an open tubular i.e. they look like tubs, with that all important gum sidewall, but are actually clinchers. The only problem I've had is that they are so nice to skid on that I go through them pretty quickly. There's a review of them here

mashton Not sure if this counts as a spotted but:
Wandering into my friends block of flats yesterday in Camberwell. Some bloke with funky hair (not a word, pj, not a word) comments on my bike and asks about the spoke card. When he notices that it is an lfgss one, he owns up to being a member here and ridign fixed.
Hey Mashton, that was me. I was just about to post how I'd spotted you. . Nice to meet you. Last few months have been shitty in terms of getting out, I only seem to ride for functional reasons lately.

Pages from the new Cinelli 2008 catalogue, pics and stats. Same as the Todd's photo. No idea on price yet.

I've always had a soft spot for the Cinelli Supercorsa Pista. It was something about those tiny decals that did it.
Having just witnessed one go for proper money on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120156514155&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=002
I was pretty excited when I got this email from Cinelli today:Thank you for your enquiry, I apologise for our late reply but we we closed for our summer holidays in August.
You will be pleased to hear that we have introduced the Supercorsa Pista frame in our 2008 line, we are updating our website with the new line, so you’ll be able to view it shortly. As from the beginning of next week you will be able to download the new catalogues from the Cinelli home page.
If you are interested in purchasing one, you can contact the Cinelli distributor in your country who will be able to give you further information on prices and timing. -

Sounds like fun. I think I'll come along to this. Haven't really hung out with fixed riders in London so will be good opportunity to talk people I spend my time nodding and smiling at simply because they ride a similar bike. I used to do the same with people wearing Vans or Stussy back in the late eighties.
Anyway, anyone fancy meeting up in South London to head over to Kensington --- Camberwell/Stockwell/Brixton area?

Elvis start on grass, its more slippery and so you'll skid more easily.
Skids: Agreed, grass is great to practise on or find a loose gravel surface. On concrete, they get easier the faster you're going. The key is to lean forward and pull up on the front pedal in one fluid motion.
Trackstands: practise riding real slow in circles. It's just about perfecting your balance. The key is not to over correct yourself when you find yourself loosing balance.

I signed upto londonfgss way back when it started I haven't really been back since. Wow has it got busy in here.
Gear inch caluclator link below and it does skid patches too.http://staufenberger.typepad.com/repository/2007/06/fixed_wheel_gea.html
Yep, stick the grips in some boiling water which should make them expand a little and help them slide on. You can also pit a bit of paint thinner on the bars.
