Quick update on my new Garmin coach:
Currently in week 6 of 8, in the 'peak phase' until 5 Dec, tapering from 5 - 15 Dec.
I followed the recommended daily workout pretty religiously for the first ~4 weeks (mainly lots of base). Between twisting my knee at the pub and life being busy means I've gone a little off program in the last two weeks. Based on my garmin 'load', my extra curricular runs have generally been harder but I've had a few extra rest days (garmin coach has one rest day a week).
I'm slightly skeptical I will hit my target time as things stand - and even less confident if I'd just followed the recommended workouts, given the load has been relatively low (per Garmin). I've had a few anaerobic sessions at quicker than race pace but have otherwise mainly been had base and a handful of tempo/threshold workouts between base pace and race pace.
I'm not sure if this is a 'trust the process' moment? I'm tempted to continue doing a few interesting/quicker/challenging runs as well.

I've had some similar conversations recently (not my money), but limited appetite for wealth management help given the cost involved. Would be interesting to know if they are happy with the scale of admin involved to keep it as efficient as possible?
In case its helpful, these were the broad topics we discussed. Med-low risk options are probably:
- cash interest accounts
- premium bonds
- government bonds
- stocks and shares
- pension
I would probably be doing some fag-packet calculations on what returns you would get with a mix of the above, with a bit of tax thrown in. Wealth managers may have access to some savings products that you don't, but I'd be surprised if there was a big difference.
Tax efficiency will be important but this may make things administratively more complicated. Some things to consider:
- if you are comfortable putting £50k of PB in your daughters name then you could have a bigger chunk of the cash interest-bearing accounts in her name and utilise her larger savings allowance/20% tax rate rather than your 40% rate
- Assume you are happy with the way the return works on PB's (not linear/guaranteed)
- If you go for any equities you probably want the majority in the ISA to keep unpredictable gains tax free, bearing in mind your CGT allowance. This means the more predictable savings income is taxable - likely easier to manage subject to base rate changes
- Pick low coupon govt bonds to maximise the CGT-free benefit
- Consider using your pension allowances and taking it back as your lump sum later [may not work with your timeframe]
- cash interest accounts

I'm not as technically savvy as DCR, but from reading his article I think the issue is that so many of them are dependant on collecting data from Strava in the first place. The big boys will have their own connections eg between TrainRoad and Wahoo/Garmin, but there will be lots of smaller ones that don't. And lots of apps that don't have any proprietry data at all.
I'm interested to see if anything is coming thats actually prompted this change or if they are just trying to FSU.

I found Buldak 2x spicy and Shin Ramen in a local Indian supermarket last week, so tried the Buldak last night. I liked the flavour but it was borderline too spicy for me even with a little bit of PB added, so think I will look for the normal spicy next time.
I had the noodles with stir fried veg and gyoza. You can fry Itsu gyoza straight from the freezer - they were a good easy-ish option to have on hand.

Thanks. I didn't recognise any of the names of the coaches on that link so did a bit more googling - looks like I am using the new Garmin Run coach that has only been around for a few months. Some mixed comments on it so far online but will stick with it for a few weeks and see what the sessions look like once the pace picks up.

Not my best work but here are two quick pics. If you alternate the bikes you can get them pretty close together which is helpful for locking them up, plus I can slide two bikes to one side and then have plenty room to put up/take down a third bike.
I've got two motorbikes, three bicycles and a workbench across a standard 3m garage width with room to stand at the bench (you can just see the pillar drill on the right side), plus spare wheels above the motorbikes. There's a lot in there but its not tidy!

Has anyone used the Garmin Coach before, and is it any good? My OH has signed us up for a 10k in Dec and I'm tempted to try the Garmin plan, but you can only see the coming week of workouts, so not sure what the rest of the plan looks like.
Edit - should say that I'm happy I can run the 10km, but I'm tempted to use the plan to squeeze the pace

I did the rollercentre option a while back, been meaning to get a good pic for ages. I bought hooks from those guys, although I bought the Lite hooks at £10 each . Still not cheap but definitely the cheapest option I could find (both for DIY carriages&hooks and ready-combined options).
I bought the strut from a local electrical wholesaler (TLC) who did delivery. 3m of 41x41 plus brackets and stops etc came in about £40 including delivery. I bought ten hooks (a few bikes +a few sets of wheels + a few spares...) so total cost about £140, and fits nicely across the back wall of the garage. Very pleased with it and just need to decide where to fit the chain mounts.

Doesn't sound ideal! Not sure what the technically right answer is, I guess Dolan maybe shouldn't have 'cashed' the voucher/your deductions shouldn't have started until they were in a position to supply your bike?
Do you actually want to cancel and get a new voucher/buy a bike from elsewhere? How good is the loaner bike?

You also save the NI, so a £10k sal sac deduction on £125k would change your net take home by £3,800. This site is helpful if you want to take a closer look at the tax impact.

I reckon the M3 bolts would work fine - they will surely be strong enough for this? - but you'd need to ditch the PDW-supplied M5 retaining 'nuts' on the inside face of the mudguard, and use an M3 nut/retainer instead.
I think the main issue is that you need to remove some material from the existing go pro mount so that there is a 'tunnel' for the PDW arm to go through (ie you need to drill a hole in the go pro mount where the brand name is on your pic). Someone like MagCad would could probably 3d print a go pro mount with a recess easily enough, but they might not have enough interest to warrant it.

You can see the silver spacer on pics 7 and 8. I'm sure someone asked them about it in the comments but I can't see it on my phone now.
Hopefully the link works, blocked on this machine. Its one of their recent posts of a black Strael 3.0
Mega! What was your chosen prep/cook method?
