was always under the impression that you can get more bang for your buck with second hand?

I'm in the market for a new (second hand) bike. I like road biking and I like going fast (doesn't mean I am but it's perception right?)

I was wondering what the forum consensus might be for what bike(s) to look out for as a best value second hand purchase. I'm thinking vaguely aero and carbon frame, there's a helluva lot out there so any suggestions of make and model is appreciated. Price would be around 1.5k to 2k?
I know components are important to look out for but thinking more generally about frames.

My current setup on the ratter is coming to the end of its life - could be tempted by new rims, something deep like HSON or velocity?

Hello fellow knee pain sufferers, have been having on-off knee pain for a while which has been attributed to vastus medialis tendinopathy. Weirdly it only comes on when riding my road bike but miraculously the fixie doesnt seem to have that same issue. I've really tried to fiddle around with the setup of the road bike but does anyone have any suggestions for common fixes that I may have overlooked? I've tried some physio exercises but am almost at a point of fear of riding my road bike.

does anyone know what (if any) mudguards can be squeezed onto a ratter track bike? I love riding it round london but I'm beginning to tire at the constant wet foot/shin combo if its even vaguely wet. I'm riding a Condor Pista EOM currently with minimal clearance, tyres are 25mm. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to them!
