Today I was involved in an accident that was caused by a car pulling out in front of me while I was filtering through traffic. As a dumb 23 y/o fuelled with adrenaline I (in hindsight) responded to the accident in a pretty irrationally:
- I told the driver they were a f*ing idiot
- I told the driver I was ok when they asked, without actually checking myself over
- I didn't take down the number plate of the car that caused my accident
- I didn't check the extent of the damage caused to me, my bike/ phone before leaving
I ended up just walking away with my f*ed up bike over my shoulder to the nearest pub to ask if they had a first aid kit.
Does anyone have any tips on how to handle these situations better and some perhaps some essential steps to go through when you have been in an accident? This situation made me realise that, having never owned a car, I have no idea on what should be done really.
