Put on a new cog and chain, swapped out the slicks for a pair of GK:s. I'm in love again. The steamroller is a lot of things, but the thing it is on 35-38mm tyres is just the best! Still digging the silly bars, such a stupid bike <3

Ha, you're right about the seatpost, lol! :D Getting really bullhorn curious! These were just some cut drop bars I scavenged from the local bike kitchen, but judging by the feel of these a proper bullhorn with more reach would be in order!

EDIT: Never mind! Someone from the Finnish fgss scene sent Surly a question about this and got an answer that they have no plans to end production of the Steamroller :)

They are trusty ol' DX thumbshifters, sl-MT62 if I remember correctly. Such pleasing action to have a proper lever to push and pull, and you get the indexed option for the rear shifter there as well. Well-made thumbies are probably my favorite type of shifter of all time!

28's are also right there on the limit with my frame.

Keen eye! I'm running 28mm GP4000's on the flat bar build, soo much nicer compared to the 23mm Vittorias.

Yeah, I asked for a clearance of 38mm with a mudguard, in the picture it's fitted with 40mm Smart Sams, could probably go up to 42mm without issue.

Ahh, I have a real soft spot for these unassuming Gazelles :) Here's mine in its current form, built it up as my fair weather work bike but tbh only been out a handful of times this past year (fixed gear for work is way too much fun). Fast AF tho! The dream would be to some day complement it with the pista in the same color scheme...

What's the going rate of a classic -92 C-track in good nick nowadays? Looking at one with all the right bits and bobs - ck gripnut, dura ace, american classic etc. - but wondering how much they really go for in this day and age...

Steamrollers never go out of style. I'd ask around £500.
