Hi!
I found this Bottecchia last summer and I'm trying to disassemble it now. I have no idea what I'm doing as this is my first ever project, but I've been able to remove breaks, shifters, cranks etc. The Campagnolo bottom bracket is trickier because I don't have the right tools for that.So I was wondering if anyone would have the necessary tools for the cup and the lock ring, and would be willing to sell those for a reasonable price. I wouldn't want to pay ~80€ for tools which I only need once or twice.
Oh and I'd be also interested of a new Campa bottom bracket lock ring too because I've already made some damage to the existing one when I tried to open it without the proper tools...
Oh and if it matters I live outside UK in Finland

So, what happened was that I bought this 61cm Bottecchia today:

I probably overpaid, but the frame seems to be the right size for me and it's pretty comfortable to ride.My first question is does anyone know which model it is? It reminds a lot of this Tour from 1989 catalog, but it is probably older:
Catalog: https://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/txsaarin/katalogit/bottecchia89.pdf
I think at least the rims and stem are not original. My second question is, do you see it worth restoring (with a reasonable price, few hundred euros (not including new paint job))? Everything seems to work (gears, brakes etc.) The paintjob is obviously in pretty bad condition and I'm worried about the rust. It looks like there's chrome underneath the paint as seen in the pics. Not sure what to do about the paintjob though; try to remove it all or try to remove the existing rust spots somehow?
Also the brakes feel kind of stiff, though I don't know if that's just how they're supposed to be. I rode early 90's Bianchi a while back which had Campagnolo Xenon brakes and brake levers and those felt super light compared to these. The ones on this bike really require force whereas with the Xenon a light pull with two fingers was enough. But maybe the brakes just needs some maintenance, like the rest of the bike.
I would love to restore the bike, but I have zero experience so I have no idea what I am doing :D But you need to start from somewhere, right?
I would be really interested to hear your thoughts and all tips (youtube videos etc.) are welcome.

Hi!
As I know there are some serious bikers over here I thought I'd ask your advice on something. I've been looking for a vintage road bike that I could turn into a commuter -basically change it into flat bar, and I've been offered this Velo Schauff Grand Sport for 150 euros.
I found a similar bike here (the fork is different and this one has damaged rear) http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=392499 and it has some specs.
First of all, I am 190cm and the frame is 58cm (the seller wasn't 100% sure about the height). Is the frame too small for me? Second, how much money should prepare for the project? I think I need to get at least the following:
- handlebar
- seat (that one is ugly)
- brake levers
- shifters
- new brakes(?) It seems that the current ones are Weinmann Centre
Pulls and I think side pulls would be better
Which parts should I get?
I have no experience about doing all this. I did watch this video and it seems it's not an impossible thing to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyfnPva-wtg
Changing the brakes might be more difficult. There's some discussion here about replacing the Weinmann Centre Pulls, but I am really not sure about what parts I should get to do the replacement. Could I fit e.g. some Shimano side pulls on this? http://www.thevelocollective.com/changing-centre-pull-for-side-pull-brakes/
Anyways, what do you think, is worth the price and the effort?
Edit: The seller said this is from 1989 or 1990, but surely they didn't use center pull brakes anymore back then?

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking your forum for a couple of weeks now (don't even remember how I discovered it) and finally had the courage to post here. I've always loved cycling and I have always been far more interested in bicycles than I have been with cars or any other vehicles. For me, how the bike looks like is just as important as how it feels to ride. The problem is that I find most of the bikes they make these days really ugly. I hate the thick aluminium frames, I don't like the colors or the matt finishing many bikes seem to have, and the forks.. well they look like some fat mans legs. I guess this is why I love the bikes in the "bike porn" & "RGR Risers Gonna Raise (hybrid commuted geared bikes) "Fitness" "dadbike"..." threads. Many bikes in those threads are absolutely gorgeous!
One of the biggest reasons I am writing here is because I've been trying to find a new bike, and was wondering - because it seems that I share a somewhat similar taste with at least some of you - if any of you would know any bikes to recommend. What I am looking for is a flat bar commuter with hub gears, preferably Alfine 8 or 11 that would actually look good. I know most of you probably use and prefer external gear hub and derailleur, but I'd like to have a commuter with as little maintenance as possible, and a single gear just won't do it because there are so many hills on my way to school & work.
As much as I don't like how the modern bikes look like, I have found a couple of decent ones which I might consider getting. One of the problems is that they're either no longer available, or they're not sold here in Finland. I just can't imagine buying a bike before I've been able to ride it. Anyways, here are few bikes that I've found which I kind of like. If you know anything similar I'd be really happy if you could post them here.

Thanks for the offer! I guess PARK TOOL HCW-5 should do the job, so maybe I should just order that one now that I've already got the pin spanner.
