Strangely that's not actually true.
Yes there are more people killed with brakes, but only because there are not many 'skidders' (who are statistically more likely to be killed)!
The key word in your tirade is 'skidder'....... a more credible observation is that Skid = Death;
You are not above physics or other peoples stupidity!
BTW - 5 exclamation marks is shouting and is just rude! -

Yes, but the law says 2 brakes are required, so a secondary brake is a must. There are times when your legs just won't do, such as when a car pulls out on front of you (personal experience), that's when a front brake is a must, it's much more immediate!
There are some seriously good looking brakes out there so they can look cool! Take a look at Diacompe aero brakes. But the bottom line is that if you aint got two brakes the law will have you (or the insurance company)!
Now then don't get me started on lights....... -
Nice bikes, only one problem with them ..........they're short of a brake! I have ridden fixed for 40 years and it really is worth having a secondary brake guys! Oh and it's the law as well.....;) if something happens you are the one that's f*@ked!
I hope that some of you who are riding fixie will have a go at riding the velodrome, after all this is the natural habitat of these beautiful bikes!
Well thank you all for a most enlightening and very amusing morning.......
Just one last thought for you to chew on....
It is a very small step for the 'powers that be' to ban fixed wheel on the road in the light of the Charlie Alliston case! Most Policemen consider fixed wheel to be unsafe and something from the 19th century so it would be very easy for them to take away our 'toy' unless you 'skidders' think ahead and make a small compromise and add a brake! You know it's safe and I know it's safe.... but that doesn't mean that those with the power will understand........over to you??
