If you need your dramah fix after the Mamnick shitshow and have a spare 4 hours, head to the thread about that on Weight Weenies.

My idea of aero testing is me sitting on my TT bike in the garage and filming myself with an iPhone, so I’m not in a position to critique the testing protocols. The guy’s creds stack up though.
I watched this video
featuring Xavier the other day and would love to do the velodrome/wind tunnel double header they did. However, with my second child due any day now, I fear that I’ll be focusing just on limiting my training losses rather than dropping $$$$ on marginal gains for next season (if I even have a season).

Not wanting to piss on anyone's chips or anything but it seems that if you're looking for aero #gainz then Flo wheels don't test too well

That’s a great solution, thanks. Hopefully they’ll start selling them soon. The dream is to send it back to Mercian for a refurb so if I did that I’d get them to add bosses.
Problem is, it’s a ‘functional bike’ and I use it daily so sending it away for a month would be a PITA.
EDIT - They are selling them in the U.K. here
-
This is my functional bike in full dad mode. It’s a 1982 Mercian Audax conversion. I need to put a half link in the chain so excuse the #trackslack. It doesn’t have bottle bosses so I’ve been using cheap chrome band-on ones from eBay but they keep breaking because they’re cheap. Any ideas about alternative bottle storage solutions gracefully received.

I wasn't saying that sending kit to Nigeria is working to make cycling more diverse in the UK - in fact I was saying we should probably look closer to home if we want to make the sport more inclusive.
However, photos of Nigerian men and women tearing it up in Lagos wearing KW kit sends out the right message. Perhaps Rutland CC could think about joining the initiative too.
-
I’ve been thinking about this whole shitshow. The Rutland CC thing is indicative of a wider problem in cycling - it’s not exactly a diverse sport. Certainly not at club level.
I’m proud to say that my club (Kingston Wheelers) are in the Comic this week due to an initiative where we sent a load of old kit out to a club in Nigeria to encorage to sport to develop over there. This sort of thing is great, and helps alter the perception that road cycling is just for MAMILS. However, looks like there’s a lot of work to be done closer to home, too.

A pub in Sheffield, today
Thom from Mamnick “Hey Guys! There’s 33 pages on the internet on one of the most influential cycling forums in the world. In the thread, there’s people from my direct target market, and all different backgrounds. They all think I’m a sociopathic alt-right troll, and will never buy my stuff. The content will actively put off potential customers, and it’s all 100% self inflicted. Also, I’m gaslighting one of my old uni mates, even after being called out about it. Wanna take a look?”
The pub - “Yeah man, you’re awesome and hilarious. Trebles all round!”
Chinny reckon. This pound shop Trump can jog the fuck on.

Contemplating a new carbon road bike with all the mod cons (Di2, discs, aero #gainz (possibly another Canyon) but I love my 2011 Ultimate so much I’m struggling to see if how a more up-to-date bike can really be that much better.
